Great visit from @ChanLabUIUC. He shared his research on chemicals to detect invisible disease states via photoacoustic imaging which is a state-of-the-art technique that generates ultrasound signals from light, which can be detected and converted into high-resolution 3D images.
How robust fluorophores resist photobleaching? We reviewed the state-of-the-arts photostable fluorophores, particularly focusing on Cyanines and Rhodamines. Thanks a bunch to @SchnermannLab and @ChanLabUIUC for the invitation!

Thrilled to announce the successful defense of @kaybrades PhD titled 'Strategic Tuning of Near-Infrared Dyes to Access Novel Biomedical Applications.' Katie's research opened doors to newer solutions for our lab! Congratulations on this achievement!๐ฉโ๐ฌ ๐
We're ecstatic to announce that @ForzanoJoe has been selected as one of seven recipients of the inaugural 2024 ACS Pride-Merck Graduate Research Award! ๐ Joe's work will be celebrated at the ACS National Meeting in New Orleans, March 2024. Congratulations, Joe! ๐๐๐ณ๏ธโ๐
Join us in welcoming the Chan Lab's newest additions - Laura, Samantha, Harshika and Justin! Our first-year graduate students are ready to embark on an exciting journey of learning and discovery, & we're super excited! Eagerly looking forward to working together as a team.
Laura Bickart graduated with BA in Chemistry from @smithcollege. Her undergrad thesis focused on synthesis of DNA-conjugated small molecule catalysts for efficient and targeted drug delivery. For fun, Laura enjoys hiking, rock climbing, baking, and reading!
Samantha Dye graduated with BA from @albioncollege in Biochem. Her undergrad thesis focused on synthesis of smoothened inhibitor photoswitchable compounds and their use as therapeutics. When not in lab you can find her singing at church, or helping with an Am. Can. Soc. event!
