Efforts are underway to ensure that any donations received and assets acquired make their way to organisations who are working to provide active solidarity with those making the dangerous channel crossing and those campaigning for safe passage.
It is with deep regret that we announce the closure of Channel Rescue as an organisation. This is due to unresolvable circumstances beyond our control.
We’d like to thank everyone who supported, contributed and volunteered with us.
Ports in Liverpool and Edinburgh refused to allow cruise ships meant to house asylum-seekers to dock - and so the ships have had to return to the company that owns them.
🚩Alarm Phone Statement on the fatal shipwreck off #Greece.
Stop blaming people on the move for trying to escape your violence!
Stop blaming people on the move for their own death!
Stop pushbacks, end death at sea, tear down Europe’s borders!

We have no more tears
We are dry
The lifeless bodies
The stolen lives
They add to Europe's responsibility
This place we inhabit and which repulses us
Though the lives lost do not add up
They only explode

After a year of digging, we @LInvestigates can reveal how an understaffed Dover coastguard failed to send help to reports of small boats in trouble at sea in Nov 2021.
This culminated in the worst Channel disaster in decades, when 27 people died.

Safe, accessible routes now!

This is wrong & Suella knows it
1️⃣ Apart from a tiny number of schemes, there's NO OFFICIAL ROUTES to reach safety in the UK
2️⃣ To claim asylum in the UK, you HAVE to be on UK soil
3️⃣ The ONLY WAY for most people to get sanctuary in the UK is to risk their lives in the Channel
There are no UN agencies present in northern France. No IOM. No major aid organisation. The French state provides nothing - not even drinking water. With no processing centre in Calais, Dunkirk or anywhere nearby there is no choice but to cross in a small boat, as she well knows.
There's no safe route to the UK for refugees from Sudan. Those already here can wait years for an asylum decision. The #RefugeeBanBill will lock up and deport anyone arriving from Sudan.
We need to:
Scrap the #AntiRefugeeLaws
Improve decision making
Open safe routes NOW!
People who risk their lives crossing the Channel when no alternatives are available to them are NOT criminals.@ukhomeoffice@GOVUK how about representing what people in the UK actually want to see — accessible routes that allow people to seek asylum safely https://t.co/SmroiI5qup
The inhumane #RefugeeBanBill is back in parliament today for 3rd reading. It is an extraordinarily dangerous piece of legislation this will have a devastating impact on people seeking safety in the UK.
We must #StopTheBill now!
This Government is scrambling to get British diplomats in Sudan to safety. Yet at the same time, it’s still pushing through its inhumane Migration Bill, which would criminalise people fleeing Sudan for travelling in the only way they can – by small boat.
Our joint briefing with @HelenBamber has found that hundreds of children are being placed in adult HO accommodation, after short visual 'assessments' upon arrival. 🧵 https://t.co/i04d9VavDN
