@obethmc Audrey Hepburn wasn't Audrey Hepburn when she starred in Roman Holiday she was nobody. Gregory Peck was Thee Star. But HR isn't the same show it was in s1 your talent pool is now going to be much wider bc the show is simply much bigger now than it was in s1.
'HEATED RIVALRY' casting director Jenny Lewis on casting Justice Smith and Charlie Gillespie for Season 2:
"When that came across our desk, I was like 'What?' It turned my head and I said to Jacob [Tierney] and he was like, "Get meeting please!" It was that quick and I think with someone like Justice, his body of work, you know, there's not a lot of trying to figure out when you're lucky enough to have access to someone like Justice.
So, that was pretty quick and Charlie is someone who Sara's cast before and we've certainly tracked his career since he was quite young and that's one of those times that I was delighted that Charlie was interested 'cause again, that particular role is a difficult role. There's a lot to it and that's where you can't ever make assumptions about who might be comfortable with content. So, when you're doing a show where, in this case, same-sex content, I would never assume if somebody's comfortable with that... I think for Charlie, like any actor, you go through the audition and he came in so adorably open and so willing to go for it in his chemistry read that I think that's all. I was sold before then but I think that's all we needed to see. I think he's an actor who likes to take risks and so that was great."

@obethmc Same w her Friends costar Courtney Cox when she starred in He Man. The stars of those movies were Dolph Lundgren & Warwick Davis similarly to how Francois was "the star/big name" for HR originally.
@AirplanePtKook I think that's another factor that confuses me-this is all very easy to research & read about. I think the general lack of curiosity towards filmmaking is just baffling to me.
@StorrieHQ_ I suppose that's another thing I'm confused by-the general lack of curiosity. One of the things I appreciate about Hudson & Connor is their love for film. I'm surprised some fans don't share that love or even are curious enough to explore filmmaking in more detail.
But this is what I'm confused by - casting ppl you know is a very common practice overall in entertainment. From Burton to Flanagan to Whedon to Black the list goes on and on. This isn't at all unique to Jacob or this show in particular.
