◉ buying books as a little treat to fill the void inside you and then stacking them in comforting piles
still confused as to what non-writers think about all day. so they AREN'T writing a novel in their head at all times? they don't listen to one song and construct epic action scenes for it? they're not zoning out to imagine complex tragic backstories for their characters????
calling your writing "trash" is a bit demoralising so alternatives should include:
- disorganised alphabet soup
- uncooked pile of letters
- currently a smudge
- choose-your-own-plot-characters novel so i don't have to
- basically an onion (makes us cry but what can you do)
@Sotherans There was a murder in my city that was made to look like it was motivated by rare book trading drama. It wasn't, but the killer knew staging it like it was would throw the cops off because rare book people just be like that sometimes
what you have to understand about the rare book trade is that traditionally no-one came here via academia, it was a gritty trade about two steps removed from organized crime, you just looted dead peoples estates and traded stacks of books often without even opening them
Strong Female Characters are nice but we need stories about all different kinds of women—women who are clever and clumsy and scared and confused, women who make magical spaghetti and turn emperors into llamas.
When you were 11 did you hand-write 3 chapters of the first book of a planned trilogy and then completely forget about it until you discovered the notebook as an adult and were horrified or were you normal
