I will officially step down on 2nd January, but my last working shift will be tonight. Cakes purchased for the obligatory cakes fine (surprisingly my first ever).
I hope to continue supporting officers, staff and volunteers but will be in a different capacity.
Following ACPO guidelines, after 11 incredible years as a police chaplain, I'm transitioning to become a police constable.
Wishing @polchaplainsuk and all devoted chaplains continued success in their invaluable service to the police family.
@IslamicChaplain @LancsPolice Thank you for being you. I'm sure the police family are appreciative of your volunteering as a chaplain for so long.
Best of luck with your new vocation.
Delighted to have accepted the offer from @LancsPolice for the position of police constable.
To avoid a possible conflict of interest my role as a police chaplain will end in January, but the support I offer to the police family will continue.
Every 2 weeks, a police officer dies by suicide in the UK.
One of the best things you can do is to ask, "Are you feeling suicidal?" if you are concerned. It is better to ask and be wrong than not to ask and be right.
Support is always available from your chaplaincy.
1 in 5 UK police officers have experienced either PTSD or Complex PTSD symptoms in the past 4 weeks. (@policecareuk Policing: The Job & The Life Survey 2018).
Your chaplains offer support in trauma resilience.

Would you recommend a new starter in the police to join the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW)?
Comments on reasoning would be much appreciated.
What is the agenda for police chaplains?
Your well-being is why we chaplains are about.
Be it a financial, relationship, physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual issue. You talk, we listen.
Police chaplains offer independent, impartial and confidential listening service to the whole police family.
If it has an impact on you, we will listen without judgement.
Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent.
Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.
Thank you to everyone part of the @LancsPolice Family who attended the Fun Day today.
The well-being of officers and staff is important to the chaplaincy team and we're are always available for a chat.
Do chaplains proselytise ie try to convert people to their belief?
Chaplaincy is primarily a pastoral role, to provide wellbeing and welfare support to people of all faiths and none. Proselytism has no place in chaplaincy. Chaplains are servants, not judges.

Mental Health Champions Training for Faith Leaders in the Community by @imocharity.
A great training opportunity I'd recommend; especially to chaplains and people in pastoral roles.
