Following our post 2 days ago, we wanted to update you.

The more we have spoken with the person who reached out to Dogs on the Streets, the more heartbreaking his situation has become.

He has been sleeping in his car with his beloved dog since October last year.

He reached out to housing services.
He was ignored.
No response.
No help.

He reached a point where he genuinely believed he might have to put his beloved dog to sleep because he could see no other way forward.
Then he found us.
We asked him how he heard about Dogs on the Streets.
His answer stopped us in our tracks:
I have heard @rickygervais speak about Dogs on the Streets and thought I’d try and see if you can help

Ricky, your words have reached someone at the most critical moment of their life.
Because you spoke about us, he found the courage to reach out.
And we heard him.
Vital items have been arranged for his dog.
His dog is coming into our care on 1 September.
With his consent, we are pursuing the services involved and asking why someone in such desperate circumstances was left without the support they needed.

This is why awareness matters.
You never know who is watching.
You never know who is struggling silently.
You never know whose last bit of hope might be a post they see on their phone.
One share could reach someone who thinks there is nowhere left to turn.
One share could mean they ask for help.
One share could mean a dog doesn't have to die simply because their human has run out of options.
And one share could, quite simply, save a life, just like how @rickygervais potentially has and thank you again for all of us that Dogs on the streets 🧡🙏

It literally is non-stop with Dogs on the streets at the moment hence my absence in updating we’ve had acute cases coming in. We’ve had Dogs coming in through London ambulance service, people becoming homeless people that are homeless it really is non-stop for us as we seem to feel that we are the only charity within the UK that steps forward to help our most vulnerable community to protect their dogs whilst they’re needing support. 🧡 tomorrow I’m in court to try and save a dog from destruction. We wish to take the dog onto our Sanctuary to rehabilitate there’s so much that goes on behind the scene scenes that the public don’t know about and because we’re such a small charity and voluntary ran it is very hard for us to even get on social media at the moment to update everyone but please be assured we are working 24/7. 🧡

Meet Bella , Looking for Her Forever Home

Bella is a young beautiful white Staffordshire Bull Terrier with a wonderfully soft, velvety coat and the most striking eyes, one blue and one hazel. She is a truly unforgettable girl with an equally special personality.

When Bella first arrived, she was frightened and unsure of the world around her. She would often cower in fear and face the wall when she felt overwhelmed. But with patience, kindness, and lots of reassurance, Bella has blossomed into a happy, confident girl who now embraces life with enthusiasm.

Bella absolutely adores people and thrives on human companionship. She loves cuddles, affection, and greets everyone she meets with a wagging tail and her beautiful smile. She has so much love to give and will make an incredibly loyal companion.

Bella can be selective around other dogs and doesn't cope well with confrontational behaviour. Sadly, this stems from her past, where she was confined to a small crate while another dog repeatedly tormented and attacked her from outside. Because of this, Bella is looking for a dog-free home where she can be the only pet—the princess of the house, showered with all the love she deserves.
She has not been tested with cats.
Bella is now ready to leave her past behind and begin the next chapter of her life with a family who will cherish her. She would love a home filled with adventures, walks, games, and, most importantly, plenty of cuddles at the end of the day.
After everything she's been through, Bella deserves nothing less than a safe, loving forever home where she can finally know what it means to be truly loved.

He/she was hiding in the hedge down hatches lane just before it turns into a single track road
A biffa truck driver also stopped
The dog is very very skinny but very placid so the lady lifted it into her car
Looks like been hiding in the hedge a while
Was being taken to temple end vets 📢📢📢

She was born with microphthalmia (small eyes) so will never be able to see, & is typical of her breed - very vivacious indeed! BDRUK are looking for an experienced home for Elsie, somewhere she can experience the firm boundaries that she needs, training, routine, patience, & with someone around for most of the time. A home that will enjoy going back to basics with her & putting training in place. Elsie can live with other dogs but it is not known how she is with cats.

Retired Royal Air Force Police Dog Cyryl needs a new home

5 years young, Cyryl, who I’ve been told identifies as a potato… and honestly, I know a fair few RAF hoomans who do too 🥔😂

Cyryl absolutely hated kennels. Rather than force him to cope, the RAF made the right call and gave him early retirement 🥹💙
Now, 7 months on, he’s much preferring his new pace of life but needs a little more structure

So here’s where we need help.

Cyryl thrives on structure and routine, it’s essential for his wellbeing.
Due to a change in family circumstances, his current home can no longer provide the consistency he needs.

He is a good dog. A really good dog.
But he’s struggling to adjust to the pace and unpredictability of civilian life — and with emotions running high, everyone is feeling that pressure.

He can be reactive to other dogs, but this isn’t the full picture —
he worked alongside other dogs during his military career. He just needs the right guidance, time, and understanding to settle.

⚠️ He absolutely cannot live in kennels ⚠️

What he needs is:
A calm, structured home
Someone committed to routine
Patience, understanding, and consistency
A handler mindset — not just a pet home

Right now, dogs in our care depend on us for everything , safety, shelter, medical care… survival.

But we’re at a breaking point.
Our sanctuary needs security.
We urgently need CCTV in place to keep these dogs safe.

We have a new kennel block ready to go in…. but we can’t install it without a concrete base, electric, and plumbing.

We REFUSE to take money away from vet care / foster care and other overheads to cover these costs.
That fund is for saving lives. For emergencies. For the dogs who need treatment to make it through another day.

We’re so sorry for the recent silence. The past few weeks have been incredibly difficult for us at Dogs on the Street.
Unfortunately, we’ve experienced a serious and unexpected financial setback involving outstanding funds owed to us by a local authority. As this matter is now in the hands of our legal team, we’re unable to share further details at this time.
What we can say is that the situation has placed enormous strain on our charity. Without a resolution very soon, we may not be able to continue operating beyond March. This is heartbreaking for us, especially knowing how many vulnerable dogs and owners rely on our support.
If you are in a position to donate or share our appeal, your support would mean more than we can express. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us fight to keep Dogs on the Street going during this incredibly challenging time.

Today I’m coming on here not as a “charity”, but as a human who is feeling the weight of keeping something i’m so passionate about alive.

Dogs on the Streets was built with love, compassion, and a promise: no one gets left behind. Not the dogs. Not the people sleeping rough. Not the vulnerable community who lean on us when everything else has fallen away.
But I need to be honest with you today.
We are a small charity with big hearts, and right now we are carrying financial worries that are heavy.

The cost of everything has risen, and to keep doing what we do ,feeding, supporting, helping, responding to urgent calls, and even supporting larger charities and services who reach out to us for help , we need to raise £1,000 a day to survive.

We don’t have back office teams.
We don’t have grant writers.
We don’t have spare hands behind the scenes.
We just have us. And you. And a community that has always shown up.
If we can’t raise the funds, we won’t be able to continue at the level we are now , and that breaks my heart to even type.
