Show me a system of humans and I’ll show you a system that has corruption.
Humankind are fallible despite best efforts to keep them virtuous.
That said, some systems are more corrupt than others.
@dodgersphins@JScottWalkr@nut_history There was a lot going on. War, eventual integration. Objectively impossible for every current infielder to be an All-Star in the 1940s.
Pesky, Stanky, Vernon, Boudreau, Rizzuto, Doerr, Reese, Mize. Lots of guys today wouldn’t stand toe to toe with a number of them. 🤷🏻♂️
@dodgersphins@JScottWalkr@nut_history Stop what? You’re the one saying there were no players on the level of Eric Davis & Junior Griffey in the ‘50s. I shared a list of just centerfielders from the ‘50s.
I loved Eric the Red and The Kid, both, a lot, but Mays, Mantle, and Snider, alone, counter your statement.
@SigmaINFJ5w4@OleTimeHardball Love how the guy blocks me to keep from responding. GTFOH, dude.
Stimulants don’t cause wholesale transformation of a player’s entire physique or enhance a player’s healing or recovery factor like HGH and derivatives do.
@dodgersphins@JScottWalkr@nut_history Williams played more seasons in the integrated era against the best of the best than he played before integration, & his quality didn’t diminish.
He lost more segregated seasons to military service than he lost post-integration, too.
That takes nothing away from Gwynn, though.
@nut_history The DH experiment was a failure and should be ended in both leagues.
Shohei Ohtani will have to play in the field in order to also hit, and I’d like to see that.
