@NorthShoreNews LGH has also provided our family with wonderful care when our infant son was hospitalized. We send those nurses and the pediatrician our biggest heartfelt thanks 🙏
Dr. Henry delivers update on COVID and flu vaccines, but why no RSV vaccines for infants this year? My son is in his 1st RSV season and public health says there are no vaccines for him, but if you're 4+ you can go to pharmacy. Makes no sense. #BCHEALTH https://t.co/hCZPphxalc
It’s wild how — in a toxic drug supply crisis KILLING SIX BRITISH COLUMBIANS EVERY DAY — there’s a concerted effort to distract the public from THE DEATHS and instead demonize @DULFBC for actively testing drugs and providing a supply that prevented users from dropping dead.
This morning I explained to my beautiful 5-year-old how her ancestors were once stolen from their mommies and daddies and sent far away to residential schools. It was difficult to explain the horrors of what happened- that we wear orange (it’s Orange shirt day at her school today) to remember the children- without overwhelming her with fear. I did it in a way that her little mind could understand. But the babies, some younger than her that were taken, didn’t have the love and care that children desperately need to grow, learn and thrive.
She is light skinned, because I am Native and French and her father is white- so she would’ve been protected and not targeted for the evils that took place during this era. But I still think of how completely broken I’d be if my child had been stolen, and I’d have been threatened with jail if I tried to stop them. I don’t think I would’ve been able to go on with life, and many couldn’t.
She is proud to wear orange today, she is free to do so. Remember, this happened in our lifetime. So today, hold your babies close. And say a prayer for the families and survivors who are grieving and on their healing journey. Take action to be a partner in reconciliation. 🧡🧡🧡

This useful article explains more about SOGI 123: "The guide focuses on addressing discrimination & bullying, creating a supportive & inclusive environment for LGBTQ students, and acknowledging there are people of varying genders & sexual orientations." https://t.co/dq2qjkDSQm
Today's a good day to remind ourselves that in Metro Vancouver in 2018:
- 26% of all homeless youth identified as LGBTQS+ and were more likely to be homeless at a younger age
- conflict with family is the primary driver of youth homelessness

@AntifaDeer I'm so sorry 😞 Vancouver was a sea of love. Wish we could wrap you up in the hug of that community love. You deserve so much better than what you got today. Stay safe and know you're not alone.
@SussanneRS 💕your speech+ grateful for your leadership. I won't lie, I was scared, but I carried your words w me: "think how scared our trans family must feel." So I showed up. Well, your words and Huggtopus', who reminds me that it's only when we're scared that we get to be brave! Thnx!
My child attends public schools. Her family belongs in public schools. We deserve representation and respect. Trans and queer children deserve safe schools to learn in. It's just not that hard. 🌈#SOGI#NoSpaceForHate
As a parent, I plead with those who think they are protecting children: Erasing LGBTQ2SAI+ people from our curriculum will not change your child’s identity, but it will make schools less safe. To all young people I say: You have rights and you matter. I stand with you with pride.
Many governments still struggle with what the right to housing means in practice, especially in the context of homeless encampments. For example, does the right to housing create a legal protection against forced eviction? In a word, yes. https://t.co/J5Z30vEGZa (1/3)
Breaking News: #Ontario is terminating its immigration detention contract with #CBSA, the latest in a slew of provinces to do so.
It’s time PM @JustinTrudeau showed the same leadership. My latest with @hrw's @Hanna_Gros. #WelcomeToCanada#Cdnpoli https://t.co/vmnudRFwdI
Human rights protections for people living in poverty are needed now more than ever. B.C.'s Human Rights Commissioner says protections are needed to address the bigger picture of human rights issues for people who are unhoused. https://t.co/zKcFOabHBQ
If the opposite of hate is love, then the celebration of international #PrideMonth comes at the perfect time. For those who hate rainbows, drag queens and disney characters, you will not win. #lovewins. https://t.co/19iF7daQyB 1/2

Excited to see #QueerBash by my house! North Van has a dark history of homophobia\transphobia which continues today (👀bridge banner bigots!), but queer folks always have and always will organize, resist and make beautiful art here on the North Shore🌦️🌈https://t.co/MtLCDFP5k4
Parents, check this out! This tiny change in a legal test will have a big impact on workplace accommodations for parents and caregivers. Proud of my colleagues today for their work to advance workplace equity here in B.C. #bcpoli
Friday's ruling means that employees can qualify for workplace accommodation when any condition of their employment has an adverse effect on important caregiving duties. Complainants not required to show their employer changed their terms of employment. https://t.co/GyWeX5CJga
Just got the email from my pharmacy: my birth control prescription has been filled and I owe $0 – thanks to our @bcndp government. No forms to fill out, nothing to enrol in; just $42 back in my pocket. This is a huge step forward for people and I hope other provinces follow suit.
