Don’t let this year end without you spending Intentional time celebrating your successes and strengths. What did you learn about yourself through them? How can this knowledge inform your next steps?
When we view others through the lens of strengths, we build deeper connections rooted in empathy and respect. This enhances our relationships, which in turn, enriches our lives.
Start the reflective prep work to think about what you can make change in this summer. What areas of your life could use more TLC? Physical wellbeing, friendships, hobbies? What would positive change look like to you?
Invite older students to set a self-determined intention around an end-of-year project or test, like “I am going to study for 20 minutes everyday.” Maybe you even add the intention to the rubric and have them self-assess! This gives them more ownership over their learning.
Humility means we let our accomplishments speak for themselves, and it means learning from others, admitting when we don’t know something and asking for help too!
Practice the strength of Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence! Take a RAINBOW walk with younger students. Encourage them to find something beautiful for each color of the rainbow. Ask older students: What’s something about humanity you find beautiful?
#CharacterStrengths
Today's Strength Spotlight is on SENSE OF MEANING, which is about discovering your purpose and place in the world. Ask older students: What do you care about & how can that help you make choices? Be prepared to Strength Spot SENSE OF MEANING in yourself and in others this week.
Today's Strength Spotlight is on PERSPECTIVE, which can be about looking at the world through a different lens. It often means trying to see someone else's point of view and building empathy. Be prepared to Strength Spot PERSPECTIVE in yourself and in others this week.
The Character Effect™ Specialists Anna Hazard and Linda Felder joined the Arnett Elementary School Love Yourself Family Night with our activity Magnify Your Strengths. Students & adults enjoyed creating a magnet with their top strength that they took home for their fridge!
Have you ever seen a student “flip their lid”, or act impulsively out of anger or fear? The most important thing you can do in those moments is maintain a calm presence. With mindful breaths and emotional self-awareness, we can model for students.
