"someone saw it go in a bush" = free relief
"he may have possibly kinda sorta improved his line of intended swing, we think, accidentally, maybe" = two stroke penalty
absolute insanity
How you practice is important to being able to transfer your skills to the course.
The difference in a practice session like this vs just hitting balls is I am working hard mentally, changing it up, limiting how many shots I get to hit.
This forces concentration and adaptation that transfers to the course.
You can screen shot the plan at the end.
@Hokies02@Katie_Reinke Hopefully for you Rory won’t need another short sabbatical to get away from playing poorly again. That definitely wouldn’t be performative would it?
@Hokies02@Katie_Reinke It’s pretty clear Rory feels bamboozled by the tour for turning down the LIV money while the big guys who went there could be back on the tour if they wanted to and Rory got pretty much nothing out of being the tours mouthpiece
@Hokies02@Katie_Reinke Literally every player outside of Rory backed Bryson 😂 and we all know ever since Bryson broke Rory at the US Open and sent him into hiding he’s had major jealousy issues with him.
Scottie clearly is on Brysons side but doesn’t want to speak on it mid tournament
Also worth noting Bryson has never really said he doesn't like Rory and has always taken the high road. Seems like a low blow from McIlroy.
Ahead of the 2026 Masters: "Do I respect him as an individual? 100%. Do I want to beat him every time I see him? Absolutely. There's no question about it... I got him at Pinehurst, he got me here, and I hope there's more of those to come because it's great for the game."
At the 2025 PGA Championship (when directly asked if he had a "beef" with Rory): "I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily a beef. Do I like everything he does all the time? No. I’m sure he doesn’t like all the things I do, right? We’re professionals, we’re competitive... But I respect him as a golfer. I think he’s an incredible golfer, and he does a lot for the game of golf. I really just want to kick his butt this week."
Golf is a game of “if you don’t like someone, penalize them. But if you do like them, give them the benefit of the doubt.”
That’s the consensus from the last 24 hours. That’s why these rules are Fugazi.
The nbc sports crew is insufferable.. Scheffler was laughing and having a good time playing with DeChambeau and Hatton and dude said playing with them is like getting a 2 shot penalty.. they don't even try to hide their bias
Lots of people in the replies here claiming the grass looks more flat in the after picture.
Bad news… I’ve swapped the pictures and the before is actually when he strikes the ball.
So everyone who said that must think he actually made his swing path worse? 🤣
I have no opinion on Bryson’s intention but how do they make arbitrary judgmental penalties in a sport where some guys have all their shots on TV and some guys have none?
If Bryson had done that trying to find his ball, would there still be a penalty? There are search parties finding these balls sometimes. Can’t tell me they’ve never improved the path of a swing.
@consequential85 Yeah if you expect someone to quietly surrender when they are being called a cheater by someone based off of a video that’s not even definitively clear there was any infraction then you aren’t watching competitors. Any competitor would be livid with that ruling which they should
Not gonna lie it doesn’t look like Bryson improved his lie. I may be in the minority here but there is just no way for them to prove he did. Can’t even see the ball on replay and if he did the ball would have moved which they are not contending it did. Grass wasn’t even in swing path and Bryson half stumbled like what are we doing here
