Pros and cons. They have this in Virginia[Virginia Residential Landlord and Tenant Act (VRLTA)]. One big HVAC company does 50% of the state because they're cheaper. Then they have one big bad management company with a very nasty person on the other side with a centralized suped up law firm to say no to every request you have.

Then when AC breaks, it takes them a week and half to fix and they blame it on the one big HVAC company they have on annuity contracts. Entirely illegal but tenants powerless to counter and landlords do not reimburse.

Personally I think this is one piece of legislation that makes sense capitalism and all in New York given no rent stabilization. Being that rent stabalization landlords will have same income with a monthly increase per tenant.

From the outside this looks like a calculated set of laws to push out landlords and sell property for cheap.

This heat is especially dangerous for New Yorkers without air conditioning. All NYC landlords will have to provide AC to their tenants starting in 2030, thanks to our Cool Homes for All law.

I don't mean to be a downer, but any business I have in the chamber is worth $100M atleast. Not a given will be succesful, but if it is, that is the potential. The $200/month with codex enough to get done. The $2M prize money, even if I made all of it would hold me back.

Great initiative, for someone like myself, who recognizes Codex and Claude Code stacks so far ahead, this is shooting myself in the foot, so no thank you.

I think if they offered this up for whatever platform the user wanted(and give credits) to use they would find more success. Maybe start off in a wedge google excels in like google cloud, google workspace and ai integration with those stacks, this would be a good first shoe in.

Who knows, maybe they're looking for singles at the moment and perhaps they will find it, but maybe not. My intuition tells me, this is marketing doing busy work, so they get to keep their job that will amount to nothing.
