@RickyDHale Also makes you wonder why they think the tiny amounts that benefit claimants get are too much. In fact, many of them admit they could never survive purely on state benefits themselves. Ah, but their views keep their rightwing bigots happy, and that’s the main thing.
Most food bank volunteers I know are motivated by political or faith-based belief in social justice. For Lee Anderson to brand them 'do-gooders' who 'just want to feel good about themselves' tells you all you need to know about the Tory mindset.
No, Liz Truss, younger people on benefits aren’t more able to “adjust” to cuts than pensioners. Disabled people who are in too much pain to get out of bed are no more able to find a job than an 80 year old - and they shouldn’t have to. Divisive and deceitful.
We had everything, free dentists, free education, free eye tests, we owned all the services, rail, telecoms, water, gas, electric, masses of social housing, EU benefits, convalescent homes, we were conned out of all this to make money. Nothing came of it just cash to the rich.
Feeling worried, 1 Oct 2022 is racing towards us. 9 Mar'22 I got a demand from @OVOEnergy to increase my monthly DD from £55 to £140 (SSE taken over by Ovo), To save money, only fridge, alarm clock left on. No heating or hot water, wore jumpers. Home is a studio flat. @dontpayuk
This is incredibly serious. Many many families will be sent into further hardship if we don't act now. We think that a mass non-payment campaign of at least 1 million people is the only viable option to put pressure on the govt to act.

@dontpayuk My brother has been a "debt counsellor" for many years. He tells me that he can't now balance the books for many ordinary people. Energy costs and inflation are taking costs beyond the affordable. They are faced with very difficult decisions about who not to pay.
The combined profits of BP, Shell and Centrica will head towards £50 billion by the end of the year whilst we are forced to head for 'warm' shelters and food banks.
There is a choice: we refuse in our millions and take direct action to stop this!

@dontpayuk Always pay your mortgage / rent and food bills first. Keep a roof over your head and stomachs full. Bollocks to the energy companies who are ripping us off, they’ll be last to get paid, if ever!
