Growing up in the village when our neighbors would cook chapati, they'd shut themselves in and watch at us from their windows. We'd be outside salivating from the aroma that would perfume the compound. This isn't about chapatis, Ugandan interns would relate.

Same story yesterday, today, and seemingly forever, you go transiently From doctor graduates to "street children"🥺😥 this has perpetually become a prerequisite for internship.
If the MoH could do away with internship, they'd probably be happiest ministry.

Uganda's medical interns and doctors are currently succumbing to the plague of a rotten, hideous, health system.
We will not allow this plague to ripple into Kenya.
We will call for better systems.

@EduMinKenya The only favor you can do to parents and Kenyans is resigning. For God's sake you could've used previous cases for learning. After Endarasia you went back to your incompetence, same place you've always been.
@WilliamsRuto Unlike you Emurua will be remembered for standing with his people, fighting for their rights, standing before the departed whose his values were not as yours is hypocrisy. I'm sure Hon Emurua would oppose you having 17bn raise for statehouse when patients are turned away at KNH
They disbanded NHIF under the pretext of fighting theft and fake claims, selling SHA as a cure for corruption. But the truth is simpler and uglier: they didn’t want to stop the eating , they wanted to change the table.
SHA was never about protecting public money. It was about resetting the system so new hands could be dipped in with cleaner excuses and bigger appetites. Same theft, new logo. Same greed, fresh paperwork.
This regime doesn’t reform institutions; it rebrands corruption. When they say “efficiency,” read control. When they say “reform,” read access. When they say “ending theft,” ask who is now eating.
Never knew one day the payslip of a civil servant will look like a urinalysis report of a patient with Fanconi syndrome or nephritic nephrosis with leakage of blood, proteins, glucose etc as a result of multiple deductions by the employer
#PostMedicalInterns
We train many doctors
Many doctors retire
Many doctors resign
Few doctors are employed
Few doctors are replaced
The health budget is low
This has worsened the health crisis making the realisation of #UHC A pipe dream
