The symbol, a butterfly, will help law enforcement know that an individual may respond differently during an encounter. Paired with effective training, it can reduce the chance of negative interactions & increase the likelihood of more appropriate actions by first responders.

Today, my Transportation committee approved Eric’s ID Law. DC will join several other states giving residents with non-apparent disabilities a choice to add a symbol on their ID. Also adds training for law enforcement. Big thx to Eric & his mother for joining us at today’s vote!

If you ever visited the Southeast Library in Eastern Market, you'll remember it was... cramped. The newly renovated library reopens this Thursday, and it's awesome. The original building is intact, but an expanded ground floor and new basement have doubled the overall size.

No injuries here, but there are going to be a lot of downed trees around the neighborhood from those winds & storm. DDOT’s teams will be working to clear trees & branches. As neighbors find more when the sun comes up, please report to 311 to add to their long to-do list.

Large Tree on Row Home - 200 Block of 8th Street SE

All occupants evacuated from home with large tree on roof.

No injuries.

I’ve spoken with heads of HSEMA & DDOT. An update:
- 1,100+ reports of tree damage have come in. Many are duplicates, but about 400 individual trees seriously damaged
- Wards 6 &7 seeing biggest impact
- DDOT hard at work prioritizing 20+ crews responding, but this will take days

As we’re assessing the damage this morning, there are a lot of downed trees. DDOT will have dozens of teams out today working to clear but it will take time. Please call 311 to report a downed tree or blocked sidewalk/road. Please also add a little extra time for school & work.

1. Report to 311
2. Preach a little patience - crews are out and will be out for a few days
3. Fallen trees aren't stable, we need to make sure kids (and adults) aren't climbing in or on them

STORM: This tree pulled itself out of the concrete and came to rest across the porches of four houses in Tennessee Ave., Northeast. It��s a miracle most of the damage is to gutters and screens.

1. Report downed trees to 311.
2. Build extra time into travel - there are several roads & sidewalks blocked.
3. Do not climb on or in downed trees; they can still shift & settle.

Thousands of people were on East Potomac Park this weekend - golfing, fishing, biking, cookouts, playgrounds, & more. It’s all at risk with trees being cleared out & heavy trucks staging all around to start demo. It’s a park for the people & worth fighting for. @SaveEastPo
