This week begins the first week of the new @udc_edu Paramedic Program.

Twenty students (18 are @dcfireems Firefighters) are now enrolled in the District’s first publicly accessible paramedic program.

This is a promise kept by @MayorBowser for access to healthcare training.

This is the first week of Cadet Class 29’s training to become one of #DCsBravest.

For the next year, 25 District residents will be working towards becoming a Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician.

Final Update: Working Fire - 1600 block of Park Road NW

Fire was contained to bedroom of a first floor apartment/no extension to adjacent units.

One adult male evaluated and refused treatment/transport and is displaced.

@DCMOCRS/@RedCrossNCGC to assist impacted resident.

@PepcoConnect has disconnected utilities to the structure.

No injuries as a result of this fire.

Two adults displaced and are being assisted by @DCMOCRS and @RedCrossNCGC.

Units going in service shortly.

Fire contained to first floor of a commercial establishment/restaurant.

All fire extinguished.

EXERCISE: On Sunday, October 18, 2026, we will have a routine training exercise on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol. Please do not be alarmed if you see emergency vehicles, low flying helicopters, and hear the simulated sound of gunfire.

Cooling temperatures are a good reminder to start planning for winter weather - with your household and with your neighbors.

Get to know the people on your block and check in with each other before and during cold or snowy conditions. Sharing supplies like sidewalk salt and shovels, or lending a hand to neighbors who may need extra support, all adds up.

Three adults and one child displaced, with no assistance needed at this time.

One cat is deceased as a result of this fire.

Cause is accidental.

Units going through firefighter rehabilitation and in service shortly.

Upon arrival, units found fire in the basement and quickly contained and extinguished.

No fire extended to upper floors/adjacent row homes. Light smoke extended to adjacent row homes.

Patient has rescued from scaffolding on a residential home using a stokes basket/ bringing patient down utilizing ladders and ropes.
