1/4 @ClimatoULiege has now robust results (MAR forced by ERA5) to confirm that the 2019-2020 melt season over Antarctica has been the highest from 1979 (~ 2 x > the normal). The highest anomalies occurred over Peninsula while the summer was warmer over most of Antarctica.
Just to give you an idea of the current trend of the surface melt over Antarctica simulated by MAR forced by the reanalysis ERA5 and the likely estimate (using MAR-GFS) for the 2019-2020 summer (that however needs to be confirmed when the reanalysis ERA5 will be available).
