I would have flown to Phoenix just for this.

When @DataRepublican and I found and started following each other on X, no one knew who we were.

I was a nobody on X, posting videos from Western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene, desperately begging for help from an administration that didn’t care about us.

My eyes hadn’t been opened yet… I was still fairly liberal.

And it didn’t matter to her. Not even a little.

She commented anyway.
She shared anyway.
She boosted the stories anyway.

Because she actually cared about the people inside those stories.

As I began to read Data’s content and so many others… I slowly began to understand.

Behind the scenes, for months, I was asking her a billion questions.

She took HOURS out of her day multiple times to walk me through complicated things I didn’t understand.

Do you understand how much of an impact that has?

When you’re in the middle of a disaster, you learn really fast who’s real.

You learn who cares when there’s nothing in it for them.

And Data cared so so so much…

So if you’re the kind of person who thinks “X doesn’t matter, it’s not real”…

…well tell that to the families in Western North Carolina who got help because a handful of accounts REFUSED to let the story die.
