After the resounding success of the Jacob & Co Ram Janmabhoomi, the brand is back with another stunning timepiece featuring Lord Ram, Lord Hanuman and an interpretation of the Ayodhya Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh, India.
This ‘Shri Ramchandra’ edition is based on the Jacob & Co Astronomia Solar and is limited to only three pieces.
The depiction of the deities in this timepiece is in the form of figurines, with Lord Ram seated at the six o’clock position and Lord Hanuman at nine. In between them is a blue lacquered Earth, which rotates on its own axis, completing one rotation in a minute, effectively acting like the running seconds. Mirroring this is the one-minute flying tourbillon cage at 12 o’clock. Meanwhile, hours and minutes are displayed via hands in 5N rose gold, designed by Jacob & Co, presented on an off-centered dial in orange fire opal. Also reflecting the hue associated with Hinduism is the stone at the very center of the display. This is a Jacob-cut orange cubic zirconia, representing the sun.
All of these elements, including the temple, are presented on a blue neoralithe base featuring a mandala pattern.
The Shri Ramchandra timepiece is powered by the exclusive in-house Jacob & Co manual-winding caliber JCAM42, comprising 295 components and offering a 48-hour power reserve. It is wound and set using the two bows on the rose gold caseback that also features a custom ‘Jai Shri Ram’ plate.
All of this is in set an 18-karat rose gold case, measuring 45.5mm in diameter and featuring a single-piece sapphire crystal case band that goes all around the side, while a domed sapphire crystal glass completes the showcase. Affixed to the case via skeletonized lugs is an alligator leather strap in blue, which matches the dial, fitted with a gold deployant clasp.
