Given that some people are now trying to *completely* re-write history it is worth recalling which minister got lots of flack back in 2020 for attacking critical race theory.
This is wrong. It doesn't matter who you vote for, but Kemi Badenoch expressly stated that ALL lives matter and it shouldn't be about someone's race. This sort of "attack ad" isn't about facing up to important issues, it's just a lie.
RICHARD TODD outside Café Gondrée - the first house in France to be liberated - while shooting
THE LONGEST DAY (1962)
Todd himself was among the first British soldiers to land in Normandy as part of Operation Overlord in June 1944.
Incredibly, 90% of the new Labour MPs at the last election came from a trade union, charity or public-sector background. Barely 1/5th of the Cabinet has any private-sector experience. In the Shadow Cabinet, 3/4 of us do. That distinction matters.
The skills Labour MPs have acquired are in lobbying for more funding, campaigning for more benefits or more red tape. Britain needs a new generation of politician.
Only the Conservative Party can build a team for the economic war effort required after Burnham/Starmer have finished this catastrophic experiment. We will need to fix every aspect of our system at once. There will be no kicking decisions into the long grass, only rolling our sleeves up and getting to work.
If you've ever thought about a career in politics but decided it was too risky or you wouldn’t fit in, now is your time.…We are looking for people from every walk of life who know how to get stuff done.
In return, I will make politics work for you.
Britain does not lack talent. It lacks a system that draws that talent into public life. Join my team and help us get Britain working again.

Here are two other UK power records:
1. Highest industrial energy costs in the world.
2. Second highest domestic energy costs in the world.
As E Miliband says, we’re setting an example for the rest of the world. Indeed we are. Which is why nobody is following us.
False narrative @TorstenBell
See how NEETs went up under Labour to nearly 17%. We brought them down to under 10%*
Yes, then the pandemic…everyone knows that hit young people…but not as badly as a Labour Government.

Star Wars is 49 today
One of the biggest gripes with George Lucas tinkering with the original trilogy: removing Han shooting first, an action that instantly defines him as the scoundrel we love
I tracked down the original cut, and here it is. Balance restored. Thanks, George.
The Supreme Court has ruled that under UK law, trans people never had the rights people like you insisted they had. You misrepresented the law and cheered on the removal of women’s rights. Trans people have lost nothing except the mistaken belief you fostered.
When he resigned he said it was because he was being prevented from making the changes needed to bring down immigration.
He is now claiming that he made the changes that brought down immigration.
Both can’t be true.
RIP Jeremy Hanley, local Richmond MP and inspiration for one of the great political lines after returning to parliament after the 1983 GE:
“Mrs Thatcher, I want to thank you. I won by just 74 votes and without them I wouldn’t be here. I think your visit to the constituency made all the difference. You are responsible for those 74 votes.”
“No Jeremy,” she replied gravely. “It is you who were responsible for the 74 votes. I was responsible for the 20,000.”

Britain is facing an “economic catastrophe” as young adults “rewired by smartphones are becoming trapped in worklessness, a government review has found
A landmark report into why one million young people are off work says businesses must adapt to this “anxious generation” by offering greater flexibility and mental health support
Alan Milburn, a former health secretary, was appointed by Sir Keir Starmer to investigate the 946,000 16 to 24-year-olds not in education, employment or training, known as Neets
His interim report, to be published next week, says that a “rising tide of mental ill-health, anxiety, depression, neurodiversity” is the main reason for high economic inactivity
Milburn said that these young people “are not snowflakes or faking it”, adding that their heightened distress and anxiety is linked to growing up in a digital age on social media
The review team held focus groups with young people, which revealed smartphones had led to poorer sleep and mental distress. “Every one of a group of ten 12 and 13-year-olds told us they went to bed between midnight and 3am because they were scrolling on their phone,” the review says
Milburn said: “This is a bedroom generation. They are sort of living in their bedrooms. They are on all the time, they’re never off. [Social media] is leading to some evidence of functional impairment, changing their sleep patterns, concentration levels. That is having an impact on their ability to work “
