@octal A shinkansen WAITED for our incoming train, delayed for 7 minutes by a snow storm. Panic scene. About 15 uniformed JR personnel were out on the platform yelling at us to hurry. Old ladies were trying to run, hauling heavy suitcases. Don't keep the shinkansen waiting!

@octal When I lived in FL and saw the aftermath to a hurricane (6 days of no power) I was amazed that almost no gas stations had generators for backup. In a state where hurricanes can be guaranteed to occur.
