"Somebody had to speak for us."
#BobiWineThePeoplesPresident, the powerful story of Uganda's opposition leader, is now playing in theaters with weekend Q&As at select showtimes: https://t.co/x5nAToMoSh
From the Women's Prison, we proceeded to Luzira Murchison Bay Prison where we checked on @NUP_Ug supporters comrades Sanya Muhuydin and Katabi Swaibu. The two have been in detention for close to three years without trial. They are still as solid as rock. Sanya in particular told us, "Obusibe bwo tubukola, naye ekituluma kwekuba nga tukola obusibe bw'emyaka jino jona, atte netuwulila nti waliwo bamu kubakulembeze baffe abegase ku nakyemalila." The only thing that breaks their spirits is to hear about some leaders who abandon the cause and begin hobnobbing with the dictatorship. They request that we continue doing everything possible to support efforts to get them out of the long, illegal detention.

Hundreds of people joined us to sing, dance, and celebrate the New York Premiere of #BobiWineThePeoplesPresident. Catch the film in select theaters this weekend with the filmmakers and subjects in attendance for Q&As! https://t.co/x5nAToMoSh
Last night at the Central Park in New York City, our documentary film 'BOBI WINE: THE PEOPLE’S PRESIDENT' premiered. I had so much fun performing for the crowd who turned up for the occasion. Thank you @natgeodocs for amplifying our voices through film. #PeoplePowerOurPower
The abductions persist, this time with comrade Kalyowa Ivan Kayiwa being one of the latest victims. On the night of 15th July, Kayiwa was abducted from his workplace by military officers travelling in a UPDF truck. He has not been seen or heard from since then.
We continue to condemn this abuse of citizens' rights, and the regime's use of security agencies in persecuting its opponents! As the case should be with other victims, we demand that comrade Kayiwa be released immediately or subjected to the due process of the law if he committed any offence.
Last night, my family and I had the honour and pleasure of attending the premier of our documentary, 'BOBI WINE: THE PEOPLE'S PRESIDENT' in Los Angeles alongside a packed audience of freedom-lovers from around the world.
The documentary captures the brutality that unfolded around us the moment we began challenging dictator Museveni’s regime. This weekend, we are proceeding to theatres in New York City for the grand premier. Photo credit: @natgeodocs
