Sprint was good, armor abilities was good, ADS was good. Weapon swapping was improved. Physics improved. Generally I'd say yes, 343/Halo Studios was an improvement.
Do people not realise Bungie didn't want to make halo? They didn't even want to make halo 2 after CE and all of 343s games were objectively better games
Who though? People who are superficial and narrow minded simpletons. The people that hate change. Or if they see even something or anything similar to another thing they scream that it is the same?
That is an issue within the Halo Community, pure autism.
I would strongly disagree with that statement. Because the game was concluded. That is the point. Halo CE "The fight is just getting started." and Halo 3 "Finish the Fight"
The game concluded. The spinoff games just filled in lore. Other wise Halo 3. Fin.
@boinksi@CharlesSRos Yep, CHIEF is Equivalent to OPTIMUS PRIME level importance, The Mainline GAMES have to HAVE CHIEF, that's the Main Complaint with H5. I Loved/played all the Spinoffs but half the fanbase didn't give a shit or gave a chance for those games because in their Eyes HALO Ended with H3.
This is not true at all. This is coming from a place of a strong dislike for change. meanwhile we were given Halo 2 which had majority of the missions where we played as the Arbiter.
Master Chief finished the fight after Halo 3. He entered the cryo pod, roll credits.
@CharlesSRos The main story needs to be Chief. Only way it will sell.
Nearly half of the fan base dislikes ODST and Reach. Not saying I do, but build seperate games off of Chiefโs story and we are good
If its confirmed that Activision is rebooting the franchise without "any pre-existing lore", what is their genuine plan?
I don't see a single Master Chief storyline existing without Halo CE, 2, or 3 as established lore.
Without any original Halo writers, this may certainly be doomed to fail.
Seeing scammers and con artists lose out on their source of income is always a pleasing thing. If you don't like a consequences of exploiting a mega corp then don't scam the mega corp. There are serious ramifications to the choices you make.
Don't be a scum bag. It is that easy.
@EndymionYT Ehhh I disagree. As a fan of RTS games Halo Wars was awesome. Both 1 and 2. The banished should have remained a Halo Wars Villain. A focal point that the Spirit of Fire fought.
If they wanted to do a FPS against the banished they could have use Spartan Red Team.
If Activision wants to be in the good graces of Halo fans they should erase everything 343/Halo Studios ever did with the franchise & pretend none of it ever existed
So weโre only Halo 1-3, ODST & Reach. After that start anew. Ignore it all. Also Forerunners are humans get over it itโs been confirmed by OG devs already
@WoodstarForges But if you see my other quote retweets you will see I got my fair share of critical points.
You can have good systems and still fall short in other areas.
No. The banished should have remained isolated as a Halo Wars thing. We need more Halo Wars games; not less.
Master Chief should have ended his fight with him going into cryo. Halo 3, Master Chiefs story ends. Halo 4 and 5 and 6 should have followed a different Main Character
This week's Halo discourse really has brought out all the bad apples in the fandom, for better or for worse.
It's all so sickening watching elitists celebrate the layoffs and making fun of fans who are understandbly upset by the news.
The rot exists throughout; you might be able to justify that the top is always the issue because you see the world through a Oppressed vs Oppressor view point. That all forms of authority are inherently evil.
But the rot inside of 343I/Halo stems from the culture war.
The fact that Halo fans push blame on the developers of Halo Studios and not the executives over at Microsoft that caused many of these decade long development issues and identity crisis in the first place is why thereโs never going to be a single Halo game that will satisfy them
Halo CE, 2, 3, 3 ODST, Halo Wars, Halo Wars 2, Halo Reach. All good.
Halo 4, 5, and Infinite can go.
Atriox should have remained a Halo Wars Villain. The Banished should have been contained inside of Halo Wars. Keep the story of the Spirit of Fire going.
Hot take ๐จ
Rebooting Halo all the way to the end of Halo 3 is a good move imo
- I hated that they turned Cortana evil in Halo 5 right after having the emotional Cortana story in Halo 4
- I liked The Weapon, but I preferred the relationship Chief had with Cortana, and I hope they restore that
- The story between Halo 4, Halo 5, and Infinite is all over the place and super disjointed
- I hated the new characters like Locke
- I hated what they did with Master Chief in Halo 5
- Halo 1-3 was a military-focused franchise with strong Christian undertones....bring that back and remove all the imperialism-bad shit
- Halo should work as a videogame first.....I hate that a lot of the lore post Halo 3 is locked behind books, as opposed to being clearly narrated in the games
- I never really understood why 343 deviated from the Covenant/Flood to focus so intently on the Brutes....that was never really clear to me (and NO, I DONT WANT TO READ THE SHITTY BOOKS IF THE GAMES AREN'T EVEN THAT GOOD TO BEGIN WITH)
Overrall, the lore and narratives post Halo 3 are not good or consistent enough to warrant saving. I am fine with a retconn and just focus on getting Halo right again
I am fine with Activision's Halo called Halo 4 and just do it again
Don't scam the mega corp. You exploited the mega corp, you did nothing and simply outsourced the work while you attended protests and rallies. You embroiled the studio in the Culture War. You deserve to get shut down.
2000 employees micro managing contractors... dude... No.
The online community killed Halo Studios and I'm not afraid to say it with my whole chest. The constant complaining and brigading by the loudest voices in the community are directly responsible for the state of the studio/franchise, more so than anything 343/HS have done.
Why lose hundreds of millions of dollars per year per studio that do not produce anything. When you can cut the dead weight and keep the people that actually contribute to the success of the studio and the brand.
We don't need culture war fighters. We need gaming devs.
I dont like Kotaku but this is a good question. What if this restructuring doesn't work out for XBOX, what then?
But we'll cross that bridge if we get there.
Gaming journos are simply marketing pieces for their culture war allies. They see their friends that they agree with and give out fluffy reviews.
This is why Xbox Magazine needs to return; and these gaming journos can take a hike. We don't need their marketing.
Aftermath (and I'm sure other game journalists to follow), are starting to hate on Asha and Xbox, claiming downsizing is going to wreck Xbox and "there is no plan."
I seem to recall them saying the same thing about Twitter when Elon gutted the staff and had them refocus. They all said X would flop...
Of course, they were wrong...
