It turns out that a fully funded patient killing service will take 4 years to implement because of its compexity and the strain it will put on the NHS and courts.
Imagine if those resources and that government time was put into improving palliative care instead.
There's a widespread misconception that a poem must make us work if it's going to be any good.
This implicit dismissal of the pleasure principle is a key reason why so much contemporary poetry fails to attract readers and then rails bitterly against its own irrelevance.
i know people always say "the most important thing is that you're safe" or "those are just things" but homes are full of memories and represent years of savings, hard work and stability for many. there's so much grief in that loss
Does anyone have/still have difficulty quantifying the time between the pandemic and now? In my head, 2019 feels very close despite being six years ago.
Approached a patron who was cooking a pot of ramen at a study table and said "I'm sorry but you can't do that in the library."
Indignantly they responded "Where do you expect me to do it? At my house?"

Calls for poems requesting that the poet should have put their whole self into them..??!!
Apart from being impossible, this can't be desirable. Wouldn't be anything left to make a stew, play tennis or guzzle a glass of wine.
Which is what enables the next poem to be written.
Up on the moors, unexpectedly, you can find a poetry postbox - spattered with rain and graffiti
The idea is to put a poem in, turn the handle and get someone else’s poem out
It’s so stuffed with poems that it doesn’t work any more - there’s a metaphor there somewhere…
