icymi, I went to go see Ontario's most tragic caribou herd over the summer and learned a lot about tipping points — and how hard it is to come back from them.
From me to the Lake Superior caribou, with love 💌

The first ER closure of the summer Unlike the GTA where you can go down the street from UHN to MSH, the next ER is 1.5 hours to Fort Frances. Stroke, cardiac events, urgent child or maternal care will not survive, #healthequity@thenosm@OntariosDoctors@OntarioHealthOH
Today I am speaking my language, Anishininiimowin, for the first time in the Ontario Legislature. Join me in celebrating Indigenous languages and our ways of life. #ONpoli https://t.co/G9ysd9O3Kh
BREAKING: The Ontario Provincial Police has arrested former Thunder Bay Police Service chief Sylvie Hauth.
Hauth faces two charges of obstruction of justice, one charge of obstructing a public officer, and a charge of breach of trust by a public official.
The OPP has laid 5 charges against Holly Walbourne. She is the former legal counsel for the Thunder Bay police service. When asked about impending charges again the former police chief Sylvie Hauth, the OPP says the investigation is ongoing.
I wrote this the day before I had surgery 3 months ago @TheAgenda @tvo On #IWD2024 let’s address the long wait times for gynaecology care & increased funding for women’s healthcare. Women shouldn’t be leaving the country to get the care they need. https://t.co/MzMlS0fIP1
On one hand, hopefully something good comes of the media bringing a light to the untenable and unique justice (not policing) situation in Sioux Lookout.
But on the other, to me, this article lacks so much historical context. Sioux Lookout is far more than jails and drunk Indians.
We continue to lose NAN children at an alarming rate. Last week another 12-year-old took her own life in Sachigo Lake.
I have invited our Treaty partners, Ontario & Canada, to an emergency meeting in Ottawa tomorrow to help us develop solutions.

How many times, Canada? Our children are just as precious as anyone else’s kids. Mackenzie Moonias was last seen on Wednesday around 9 a.m. in the 100 block of University Drive, Thunder Bay. MacKenzie’s body was found today in the water.
Some personal news, as it were: I've said goodbye to TVO. It's been a trip! I'm so grateful to the journalists, editors, educators, and sources I've had the privilege to learn from over the last few years. I'll carry those experiences with me as I sort out the next chapter.
Gary's on strike, so he stopped by @TorontoMet to ask if we should #FundTVOLikeItMatters.
It's week 10 of the strike, and we want people like Gary back at work creating #OntarioMade content for Ontario.

Donated $75 to my former colleagues because I recognize that the only way to foster quality current affairs and journalism is through job security and living wages.
I loved my time at TVO, but I stand with those who are fighting for better pay and job security.
Also, if you donate $75 or more to our strike fund, you get a sweet union-made #SolidariTee (and @TVO_CMG's immense gratitude):

My @TVO_CMG colleagues and I have been on strike 59 days. All we want from @tvo is a fair wage increase and job security.
If you'd like to help, please sign our petition asking @fordnation to grant binding arbitration:
