Working-class children in Grimsby are losing faith in school, with many feeling they are being left behind before they even get a chance. “I just can’t do it” and “No, not really” show how some young people no longer believe they can succeed.
John Ellis, who has run the Shalom Youth Centre for 54 years, says “the education system is totally failing the whole dream of young people,” as more children stop engaging with education altogether.

Having a Northern accent doesn't make you working class.
Academia, for example, is full of those with regional accents claiming to be working class but who went to grammar schools, had private tuition & who's parents are: teachers, lawyers, academics.
The most hated group in Britain is probably the white underclass. Middle class liberals love to bully them for being poor, uneducated, lacking dentistry and being the quintessential Orwellian prole, obsessed with booze and footy. The Benefit Street. But they're my people.
