My 2025 Detroit Lions Ted Talk:
The Lions are playing by far the toughest schedule in the NFL this year & contrary to what some believe they already have several really nice wins.
Bullied a healthy Ravens in Baltimore.
Played a C- game and flattened Tampa the week they were 5-1, leading the NFC & Baker was the leader for MVP.
50 burger’d a Bears team that would be 7-2 otherwise.
During a year in which teams are losing as massive favorites left & right every week … in the games they “should win” against the Bears, Cincy, Cleveland, Vikings & Commanders they are 4-1 with a +87 scoring differential.
While it would be nice to always beat top-tier teams 100% of the time … no one does that & no one else in the league this season is playing a gauntlet like this. They are going to lose again this season.
I do think they’ve played a large enough sample size at this point where any singular regular-season loss shouldn’t be viewed as a season-ender. If they were playing other team’s schedules they would probably be 7-2 or 8-1 instead of 6-3. But also probably wouldn’t have been exposed in certain ways & therefore the record would be more fools gold than it currently is.
They will be battle tested as hell come playoff time. They have elite coaching and a roster that IMO is more talented than anyone’s.
Maybe it’s just me having a different approach as a fan than most, but I’m just really trying to enjoy the ride with these teams. They are really freaking good. This limitless bar of “they better win this or do that or else they aren’t good enough” and/or the constant fear of doom after a loss when playing a schedule like this … just doesn’t add up to me & isn’t worth it IMO.
