1st hitting development card…✅
Excited to see where the Guardians No. 17 prospect goes from here.
The swing is in a really good spot and feels close to unlocking some serious potential that could make him an immediate impact bat at the big-league level.

This is one of the first things I evaluate in a hitter and is one of the easiest swing movements to link to ball flight👀✈️
Recognize flaws early and program accordingly🔥
External cues are a simple, effective way to teach the body how to move toward the desired outcome relative to the hitters’ posture‼️
Contact Point
5.6 in. in front of plate (MLB avg 2.9 in.)
32.7 in. from center of mass (MLB avg 30.7 in.)
Catches the ball more out front relative to both the front of the plate and his center of mass (more out front relative to the MLB average as well)📌
4/12
Bat Path
Attack angle: 9° (MLB avg 10°)
Horizontal attack: 0° (MLB avg 2° pull side)
Swing tilt: 35° (MLB avg 32°)
Struggles to release the barrel to pull side, partnered with an out in front contact point explains pushy/handsy mechanics.
5/12
Ball Flight✈️
Straight air: 21.1%
Oppo air: 20.7%
Pull air: 15%
Pull GB: 20.3%
Pull-side avg LA: 4° (low liners/short hoppers)
He hits the ball in the air more than ever since 2023 and the majority of his ball flight lands lower to the pull side of the field❌
6/12
Swing Decisions
Zone Swing%: 63.4% (MLB avg 67%)
Zone Contact%: 78.4% (MLB avg 82.1%)
Chase%: 26.8% (MLB avg 28.4%)
Whiff%: 27.9% (MLB avg 25%)
-7 run value on fastballs (thrown 60.2% of the time)
This tells us that he is swinging at the right pitches and just not capitalizing on the ones he swings at🤔
2/12
Lowest Hanging Fruit
🍓Get open w/ the lower half
🍇Create better hip-shoulder separation
🍊Catch the ball deeper
🍉elevate more consistently pull side with better barrel release
The intent needs to stay high with the bat speed and to do damage early in counts🔥

Additional Implements (for extra feel)
I’d cue him to aim down the right-field line to promote a full barrel release.
Then introduce a long bat to challenge the contact point and stay deep, but still release the barrel in time to drive the ball to the pull side.
If the longer implement starts pushing contact too far out front, switch to a short bat to see how deep he can pull the ball while maintaining space and getting the hips open.
