We finally got full-year electricity data for 2020, and.....hydropower was way down in California due to drought, unsurprisingly. Natural gas generation was up, at nearly half of in-state power supply. And CA just barely met its 33% renewables mandate. https://t.co/K6j6cTC1wW
@jeffsaintjohn Thought it worthwhile to leave these here... the @B2U_Storage utility-scale ESS project using second life Nissan Leaf batteries in Lancaster, CA. Commercialized May 2020 in CAISO.
Question of the year/decade for #EVbatteries: how can we extract the most potential value for energy storage?
My bet? mostly VTH for life on-wheels, with some VTG applications; For second-life, FTM ESS with some BTM for rural off-grid applications.
What happens if cars interact bidirectionally with the grid? What if a small fraction of EVsโ storage capacity can send power back to the grid when demand is high? https://t.co/Op0gN6xfht
@jeffsaintjohn@CanaryMediaInc Sounds like a good deal...and once those lightning batteries have reached their useful life on wheels, @B2U_Storage will repurpose them for ESS, coupled with their new @Ford for almost double the storage capacity.
What happens to #EVbatteries after their initial use on wheels?
B2U repurposes them in energy storage here in California, extending useful life and making battery lifecycle management more sustainable.

@rilanonthecobb@DCheverere@dcarterruff The gentrification between the Boston public garden lights and across the street, the Boston commons is just astonishing
