Large wildfire burning just southeast of Custer, SD. The latest report has the fire estimated at 5,371.3 acres. This video was taken earlier in the afternoon.

South Dakota: Looks like fire season is ready in the Dakotas. This is the Qury Fire this afternoon outside Custer. All roads and trails within the Custer State park south of Highway 16A are currently closed.

The fire is estimated at 1,200 acres and may have crossed Hwy 87 approx 1 mile south of Mount Coolidge. Resources on scene and responding. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this view of the fire.

12/17/2025 936pm: The Buffalo, SD ASOS recorded an 89 MPH wind gust. This wind gust is on the edge of the secondary, STRONGER cold front heading to northeastern #WYwx/western #SDwx overnight. Expect wind gusts from 60 to 80+ MPH overnight.
