This is the time of year for a favourite Old English word: the leaves are 'fallowing', from the verb fealwian, 'to turn yellow-gold'. In Anglo-Saxon poetry fealo (fallow) is the pale golden shade of fire, linden shields, sword hilts and autumn leaves. They fallow, then they fall.
Who's shutting down the national capital? Is it the government or protestors? Whos's "laying siege" to the supreme court? Petitioning the supreme court is "laying siege on it? And what is using compelling power appointees to rule in favour of the government?
VIDEO | Delhi: Stanford alumnus Devansh Sharma, one of the 400 signatories of the statement titled “Spare India from Anarchy,” says, “What I’m seeing right now in India is a very dangerous trend of questioning the democratic institutions on which our entire constitutional system rests. There is a difference between having a grievance and protesting against it. But when protests start affecting livelihoods and the national economy, they can turn into a push towards anarchy.”

He's guarding his own class interest as part of the global financial class that sucks land, labour, environment and joy dry from all places in the world. This is what he's saying. We will not let you neutralise people's power yet again.

asked to leave. Is this economic loss significant or no? Does economic loss matter only when minuscule proportions of profits are lost for big corporations? Is long term structural economic precarity mixed with risk of arbitrary humiliation a concern of these courts or not?
On 2nd October around 5 pm, after the protestors for the day and been mostly detained and some of us were simply sitting around CP inner circle, a cop came and VIOLENTLY demanded that the roadside flower and craft sellers leave immediately. He was simply frustrated he could
Businesses do not suffer because of peaceful protests. They suffer when the govt decides to shut down an entire city, suspend internet services and restrict the movement of its own citizens and turn the city into a war-zone.
Since its inception, the Cockroach Janta Party has maintained that we will always follow Gandhi’s path of peace and non-violence, and we have stood by that commitment. We have organised protests in Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Nagpur, and every single one of them has been peaceful. I was personally assaulted in Jaipur, but even then, I chose not to retaliate because responding to violence with violence goes against everything we believe in. We would rather exercise the rights guaranteed to us by the Constitution, drafted under the leadership of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, than resort to physical force. Our strength comes from our commitment to constitutional values, and no amount of provocation will make us abandon them.
Despite this, there are constant attempts to portray us as anarchists simply because we refuse to remain silent. But demanding answers from the govt is not anarchy, protesting against injustice on the streets is not anarchy, and questioning those who hold public office is certainly not anarchy. These are the most fundamental expressions of democracy. The very party that is in power today spent decades organising protests, taking to the streets and questioning the governments of the day when it was in opposition. Had the same restrictions, intimidation and police crackdowns been used against them, many of those who occupy positions of power today might never have reached where they are. It is deeply hypocritical to celebrate protests as a democratic right when you are in opposition and treat the same act as a threat to public order when you come to power.
We are not asking for privileges or special treatment. We are simply asking to exercise the rights that belong to every citizen of this Republic, irrespective of which party is in power. So let us fulfil our duty as citizens of this country by questioning those we elect, demanding accountability and speaking up whenever we witness injustice.
A govt that has been elected by the people is bound to listen to the people, not silence them. Democracy does not end once the votes have been counted.
by screaming at the rehri-pathri workers. When we asked them why is he screaming and telling them to leave he said “these people” are doing encroachment. One of the workers came up to us and said that they had just made the first sale of the day (bauni) and now they are being
not scream and shout like that at us without opposition (because our livelihood didn’t depend on being able to use the footpath so we would fight with him, unlike the precarious workers who can’t afford to fight with police in most circumstances)so he thought he can at least vent
Neha did not congratulate jamaat, RG did not push woman, there is nothing wrong in asking for regime change…
Is all fine, but stop being defensive. Stop letting them choose what you talk about.

#BREAKING Petition mentioned in the #SupremeCourt against the Tiranga protest announced by CJP in Delhi's CP.
Adv Jai Anant Dehadrai raises apprehensions of losses suffered by traders.
Bench says similar matter is being considered by Delhi HC.
CJI to Adv Dehadrai (who mentioned): We hope better sense will prevail on every one...small shopkeepers they earn their livelihood during these days. We know the hardship and difficulty entire families will face
J Bagchi: Someone wants to protest, someone wants to sell moongfali, someone wants to maintain law and order. All these are related. If there's loss of business, we will exercise our powers under Constitutional jurisdiction. Let's cross that bridge when it comes
Dehadrai: NDMC yesterday has come out late at night yesterday shutting down Central Park, meaning no trade will happen
J Bagchi: If we will it's disproportionate, this court had ample jurisdiction under public and compensation law.
Matter listed on October 26/27.

I will always hate this f*cking government and Delhi Police from the bottom of my heart until my last breath and even death won't make me forgive them. Even when I turn to ashes, my ashes will still hate them.
I hate u and I will never forgive u
🤡 what is this garbage? And, sane journalists should support this? Sorry if you behave like goons & go to disrupt a presser you will also be treated like a goon
Mataein and behenen are leading these protests. They are not being propped up, but your patriarchal gobar brain cannot comprehend that.
Misogynistic loser energy.
Reject stupidity embrace solidarity! This is propaganda for the eyes and ears of those whose eyes and ears are already closed! No need to bother with this nonsense. If they send us to jail for demanding regime change, we just have to be ready and support each other!
That is literally why the post of Leader of the Opposition exists in a parliamentary system. Ousting the PM if the country is going downhill is literally his day job.
I am surprised this needs to be emphasized in a democracy. Seriously, what's wrong if someone wants regime change? This is what democracy is. Nobody is here to rule forever.
