Exciting initiative promoting community and inclusion in Edmonton. Hope your experience can inform similar initiatives in communities right across Canada.
I learned that one of our local emergency departments will now consider the role of both implicit bias and structural racism in critical incidents during their M&M rounds.
A great initiative, @DrCarolynSnider—and I am sure that you will do it with care.

Data matters if we want to make informed life-saving and equity-based decisions. Huge congratulations to CHAT 2020 keynote Dr. @janephilpott and Dr. @BogochIsaac on leading this charge. We could not think of better people for this role!
Access to timely, reliable, cohesive data is critical to stop the spread of COVID-19, and save lives. I’ve accepted a role as Special Advisor to Ministers Elliott and Bethlenfalvy in the development of the Ontario Health Data Platform. https://t.co/HdxVkdPEQi

Today we hosted our inaugural @OMSAofficial Municipal Day of Action Partnership (MDAP) meeting! With a presentation by @MVerhovsek to get us going, we have left with a plan for collaboration between the six Ontario medical schools and future advocacy projects! Watch out 👀
Last week, @TPAC_UofTMed (virtually) met with Toronto City Councillors to advocate for immediate short- & long-term action addressing homelessness in Toronto:
▪️Hotel rooms to allow for physical distancing
▪️More supportive housing units
▪️Support of future housing initiatives
We are excited to participate in our annual municipal lobby day today and tomorrow to advocate for short- and long-term solutions to inequities facing Toronto’s homeless population, esp during #COVID19. We look forward to hearing your thoughts, @cityoftoronto councillors!
Kudos to @ChiefMNolan & team for @RenfrewCounty Virtual Triage & Assessment Centre. A 24/7 line staffed by family docs & Community #Paramedics. Set up to alleviate stress on ERs/911. Paramedics do in-home assessment if can't sort out by phone (<10%). Also in-home #covid19 swabs.
"People who are living in shelters are just by definition coming into contact with so many other people. They’re not able to socially distance or self-isolate and they’re at risk at contracting (COVID-19) or spreading it." @SamanthaGreenTO https://t.co/cwgY9EaMyg
🚨COVID-19 SHELTER SURVEY RESULTS🚨
HPAP members surveyed 22 locations and it is clear that widespread outbreaks of #COVID19 across the shelter system are inevitable without immediate action.

See infographic below for results of surveys and our 5 demands:
Imagine if an equity-based perspective--to PPE & testing distribution, access to virtual care, triage guidelines, redeployment, housing & social distancing, medications, characterization of "essential service"--was integrated at the outset of pandemic planning?
