What a heart-wrenching tragedy, probably the worst human tragedy in Islamabad since the Ojhri Camp disaster in 1988: Capital’s flagship hospital has machines which don’t function even when a jailed ex-PM is in for treatment under Supreme Court orders & now, in this case, on top of faulty wiring which apparently caused the fire, there’s no SOP for such emergencies in the Hospital whose doors were apparently locked, preventing escape, topped by tardy rescue response! They can’t fix the basics & then people of Pakistan have to suffer their tall talk of Reform & Restructuring of the State! Monumental Incompetence!
In the light of this report Executive Director of PIMS should be fired because this report clearly says that life-safety arrangements in PIMS were compromised not as per standard requirements.
Just five days ago, ministers were presenting PIMS as if it were the world’s no 1 hospital. Today, the same ministers are running from media, trying to hide negligence, incompetence, health & safety failures, & lack of facilities at PIMS. Just in five days. What a change!
Fifteen newborns died, and look at the state of Islamabad’s biggest government hospital: broken ladders, no proper emergency exits, and shocking safety failures. Billions were available for luxury cars but apparently not for protecting public. A criminal display of priorities.
firing the health secretary won’t get this mother her 3day old baby back Mr PM @CMShehbaz
14 Mothers who walked into PIMS expecting to take their babies home and instead walked out carrying grief that will never leave them.
Suspending a single official risks looking like an attempt to deflect responsibility and shield those ultimately accountable for the systemic failures under your government
A hospital entrusted with the most vulnerable human beings must have uncompromising safety standards, functioning emergency systems, proper SOPs and accountability. “Good enough” cannot exist in a neonatal ward.
And yet, at the very same time, this government has been adamant about placing a former Prime Minister in this state hospital despite a court-directed preference for treatment at Shifa International, citing exceptional medical care along with security.
condolences should not become the end of this story but we shall see 14 dead babies turn into a headline, an inquiry and a few dismissals.
A newborn cannot demand an SOP.
A mother should not have to demand a fire exit.
And a hospital should never become a place where parents fear they are sending their children to die.
Yet this government seems to have immunity from accountability for everything.
Our Health Minister saying ‘PIMS is operating beyond its capacity’ is not an excuse for fourteen newborn babies dying in a hospital fire. The implication of this makes my fucking blood boil. Fire safety is not a luxury for people who can afford high-end private hospitals.
There should be FULL accountability. Resignations.
But this is Pakistan, so the circus carries on.
PML-N is afraid of Imran Khan, we all knew that. But this level of fear? This is something else entirely. Honestly, I never imagined it would run this deep.
Federal Minister has confessed #ContemptOfCourt publicly in a tweet.
Will Supreme Court uphold sanctity of the institution and disqualify a Federal Minister for admitting that Imran Khan was not taken to “Shifa International Hospital” per court orders?
If the news reports are true and the #Pakistan regime both flagrantly violated the #SupremeCourt's order and duped the people in thinking @ImranKhanPTI had been transferred to Al-Shifa, there is an elegant solution. The #SupremeCourt should simply find the regime in contempt of court under Article 204 of the Constitution and issue an order that suspends the two sentences Khan is serving as they are both on appeal anyways and requires his immediate release from prison. Then he can return to the people, get whatever medical care he needs, and fight for the release of his wife as well. @kasim_khan_1999@sayedzbukhari #humanrights @PTIofficial@PTIofficialUSA@soulful7867

Time to rejoice.
For three years we have watched him endure isolation that would break most men. Cut off from newspapers, from books, from his family, from the country to which he gave everything. Tonight, finally, a door has opened. Prayers. Endless prayers. For his health, for his strength, for his full and complete recovery.
Those who know him, as I have for over 35 years, also know this about him: he is not vindictive. He does not carry hatred in his heart, even toward those who have wronged him. That has always been his strength, and it will be Pakistan's strength too, if we let it. This country does not need more anger. It needs peace. It needs healing. And I believe, I have to believe, that this is the first drop of that rain, of Allah's mercy.
What courage this man has shown. Three years. Isolation, illness, uncertainty, grief for his people and still, he did not bend. Emulating Tariq bin Ziyad and Salahuddin Ayubi, he did not trade his principles for comfort, persevered and endured. He did not succumb. History will remember this unique chapter, and it will remember it as a testament to what one man's conviction can withstand.
یقیں محکم، عمل پیہم، محبت فاتح عالم
I am overwhelmed tonight. Genuinely. Words feel small next to what this moment means, to his family, to his workers, to the tens of millions who have carried him in their prayers every single day of these three years.
Get well, Imran Khan. Pakistan needs you healthy to lead us as a Captain in the field of turbulent seas of confusion and chaos.
May Allah grant you a full recovery, and may this be the beginning of justice, of real justice — finally taking its course.

If there is one thing Imran Khan has always loved it is HYPE. If there is one thing that defines PTI's politics it is HYPE. If there is one thing the Establishment has tried to take away from both the PTI and Imran it is HYPE. Today as he moves out of jail and to Shifa Hospital there is total HYPE. Domestic HYPE. International HYPE. Imran is a subject that refuses to go away. He is a news cycle that continues to unfold.
shameful how a former PM is being denied medical treatment even after a court has ordered it. Even more shameful, that leaders of both parties PMLN and PPP have spent the better part of their convictions in private hospitals, domestic and foreign.
Yet most shameful has been Law Minister announcing on national television that “authorities” have decided that SC order is outside “legal parameters”.
as hybrid defense minister loves to say:
