Selling F-35 fighter jets to Turkey would be very bad for Israel, even if Ankara does not receive the most advanced upgrades.

Turkey is no longer a neutral player for Israel. In recent years, it has become one of the most hostile powers in the region, and Israelis almost no longer travel there like they once did.

The concern is not only political. Turkey is a powerful military force, and it has been building influence around Israel's borders, including through Syria and northern Cyprus.

Analysts warn that giving Turkey F-35s would strengthen a country that is clearly not on Israel's side and could give Ankara a dangerous air advantage in the region.

This means that a staggering 43% of the system’s 912,000 students have a 50-50 odds of failure. This is despite spending $40 billion on public schools in 2024, or $36,293 per pupil, double the national average.

* Meanwhile, six months into office, Mamdani has yet to release his education agenda. Out of the hundreds of press releases his office sent out since his term began, just 11 relate to schools, and one to actual education. Education advocates say they have never seen a mayor with so little interest in schools.
