I keep thinking of all the countries in Southeast Asia that embraced export-led development by attracting FDI, becoming manufacturing zones for fast fashion et al, disciplining their labor forces and now are being slapped with tariffs + potentially losing their top export markets
Felicitaciones @BenToumert y @KatieSandwell!
@Thomas_Marois@EGudynas@MazzucatoM For instance, her notion of “entrepreneurial state” is far from innovative for those of us coming from Latin America, where many social scientists have been engaged in deep debates about the “estado empresario” across the region.
@Thomas_Marois@EGudynas@MazzucatoM Deep debates on the role of the state have been taking place across the South for decades. I’m sick and tired of European academics publishing theory-light books and advising governments while dismissing knowledge production rooted in concrete social processes and struggles

@Thomas_Marois@EGudynas I fully agree with you @Thomas_Marois and (to my surprise) I also share @EGudynas criticisms. As we discussed it before - several times - @MazzucatoM too often recycles (to the verge of plagiarism) old ideas without giving proper credit to the original thinkers.

The Climate and Community Project (@cpluscp) has just published an excellent report debunking the myths of public-private partnerships in the electricity sector worldwide. I'm delighted to have contributed the chapter on Uruguay. Available here: https://t.co/dOj0R6snrp
@GabrielHetland@NewLeftReview Thank you, Gabriel! Very well argued and much needed analysis. It’s sad to read other friends and comrades in the European and Latin American trying to defend Maduro’s neoliberal and authoritarian government with extremely simplistic analyses.
