PPFN Hosts Africa Health Budget Network to Advance Population Financing and Family Planning Advocacy
Wednesday, 25 February 2026, Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN) welcomed the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) for a strategic courtesy and advocacy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration on population financing and women's health accountability in Nigeria.
Led by AHBN Coordinator Dr. @AminuMagashiG , the delegation engaged with PPFN Executive Director Dr. @OkaiAku in high-level discussions reflecting on key outcomes from the 13th Annual Population Lecture Series, organised by the National Population Commission.
Strategic Priorities Discussed:
• Budget Structure Reform: Advocating for the transition of the National Population Commission to "Part C" of the Appropriation Act to enhance budget predictability and transparency
• Decentralized Financing: Supporting the establishment of dedicated population budget lines at state level to ensure localized resource allocation
• Family Planning Investment: Reinforcing joint advocacy for increased, reliable financing for family planning within the 2026 national budget
• Sustainable Commitment: Identifying practical pathways to strengthen government ownership and ensure sustained investment in reproductive health programming
Anchored on the Collaborative Advocacy Action Plan (CAAP), this engagement underscores PPFN's commitment to evidence-based advocacy that drives measurable improvements in health outcomes and advances Nigeria's population and development priorities.
We remain dedicated to forging strategic partnerships that translate policy dialogue into tangible investments in the health and rights of women, girls, and families across Nigeria.
The AHBN team at the visit included @AminaHaladu and @SadiqMalami.
