132 years ago today, 26 December 1893, the great teacher Chairman Mao Zedong was born in Shaoshan.

Mao spent his life dedicated to serving the people, inspiring not just the Chinese, but the revolutionary peoples of the entire world.

Long live Chairman Mao!

Mao Zedong, the founder of the People's Republic of China, was born 132 years ago today.

In his traditional lyric poetry "Tune: Charm of a Maiden Singer - Mount Kunlun (念奴娇·昆仑)," which Mao composed after finishing the last leg of the Long March, he wrote the following lines: "In a peaceful world, young and old, might share alike your warmth and cold!" The Chinese people likes the poem because it symbolizes our desire for global harmony and peace.

Decades have passed since the poem was written, and many developing countries are still battling for independence and prosperity. Many people are still subjected to discrimination and war. Victory appears distant to them, yet their unyielding pursuit of justice and equality shows that no country can enjoy wealth and development on its own. All nations and people must share in it for lasting peace and prosperity.

Standing atop the Tiananmen Gate, Mao announced the founding of the People's Republic of China seventy-six years ago. Two enormous posters, one reading "Long Live the People's Republic of China (中华人民共和国万岁)" and the other "Long Live the Great Unity of the World's Peoples (世界人民大团结万岁)," remain on the western and eastern walls of the Tiananmen Gate to this day. These are the commitments China has made to its citizens and people around the world.

May we live in a peaceful and prosperous world where all nations are treated equally, while all people can benefit from global growth.
