International Women’s Day 2025: A Legacy of Strength, A Future of Possibility
A thousand years ago, forty generations before us, the world we live in today was unimaginable, just as it will be shaped a thousand years from now by those who dare to dream beyond our limits today.
Women have always carried the weight of change—often unseen, often unrecognized, but always essential. We have been the builders, the architects of transformation, who fight, rise and create even when the world tells us we cannot.
We are not just standing on the shoulders of those who came before us—we are the continuum, the bridge between past and future. And yet, progress is never guaranteed.
Women in Canada could not vote in a federal election until 1918, and it took another decade before we were legally considered “persons.” Around the world, these battles for recognition, rights, and dignity have been fought again and again. And today, in a time of technological, economic, and societal upheaval, we are still fighting—sometimes in new ways, sometimes against the same old forces.
Let’s not romanticize courage. It has a cost.
To stand up to power is to risk standing alone. To challenge the status quo is to face resistance. To live boldly is to accept that you will not always be loved, liked, or seen. And yet, we move forward—not for approval, but because the work demands it.
And still—what an extraordinary thing it is to be alive now. To have the chance to live, create, expand, and be a possibility that keeps unfolding.
We cannot wait for the most privileged or powerful to decide what comes next. Each of us must be a seed of transformation. This generation has the responsibility to carry forward what was fought for and push beyond what has been imagined.
So yes, we celebrate today. We honour those who came before us but also acknowledge the work ahead, the urgency, and the opportunity.
This is not the time to shrink. This is the time to rise.

Women, Power, and the Lie of Being ‘Too Much
This is the Moment.
Women are told to be bold, push boundaries, and break ceilings—but also to be humble, kind, and not too much.
We’re expected to be audacious but not arrogant, powerful but not intimidating.
I walked that impossible line for years—until I realized it was artificial.
Meanwhile, the #AndrewTate Tates of the world moves freely—loud, extreme, unapologetic, and rewarded.
And women? We’re judged, questioned, picked apart.
“Who does she think she is?”
“What gives her the right?”
But if you stay quiet, you stay invisible.
So here’s my message:
If you have a vision—build it anyway.
If you don’t know how—start anyway.
If they don’t like it—keep going anyway.
And if you have a dream, don’t shrink it to fit into smaller places.
If you do, the dream will not survive, but you will never be small enough for small minds.
Innovation Looks Different for Us
Women weren’t granted the federal right to vote in Canada until 1918.
It’s 2025. We haven’t been in power long.
For centuries, we built from the shadows. But now?
This is the moment.
To be bold about your dreams.
To understand innovation looks different for all of us.
You don’t need permission to create, lead, or build.
And you don’t have to do it alone.
Find your people.
They don’t have to be like you—just willing to build with you.
Because when we create together, we build something more significant.
Understand that courage has a cost.
Here’s what they won’t tell you:
People will resent you for it.
Some women will judge you for it.
They’ll whisper: Who does she think she is?
But the real question is: Who do YOU think you are?
Because winning is staying in the game when everyone tells you to quit.
So be relentless. Be the woman they aren’t ready for.
If you need help getting to the next level, call me. I’ll help you get there.

Great thread, reminds me of my husband Joseph Sponder sacrifices his own goals to be present for our four kids. He’s a brilliant industrial designer, but has always been more ambitious for his kids than himself. He is an amazing man.
