If you’re in France for New Year’s Eve, be prepared for a unique feast. They typically ring in the new year with pancakes, foie gras and champagne.

Instead of a champagne toast, Spaniards spend the first seconds of the new year cramming grapes in their mouths for good luck. The clock hits midnight, you eat twelve grapes: one for each month of the coming year. It seems easy, but you’re supposed to eat them all in 12 seconds!
