@6H05T_Macadelic That’s because there was no champ in 94. I remember it well, Bagwell gets hurt before the strike, one of the greatest all-star games, and it was the Expos last hurrah as a real franchise. I agree with gutting this team and getting a lot of prospects two high picks in 27 & 28.
I feel the same about Jeter, sat around watched his teammates abuse steroids & said nothing. He saw so many good pitches because they wanted to avoid guys like Giambi, Sheffield, A-Rod. Had pitchers like Pettite & Clemens winning games. He doesn’t receive the scrutiny he deserves
Altuve was the face of the 2017 Astros. He sat in that clubhouse every night, watched teammates bang trash cans, won an MVP and a ring off the back of it and said nothing. For years. Not until reporters dragged it into the light.
“Innocent” is a word you use for a kid who didn’t know what was happening.
Altuve knew. He profited. He stayed quiet. Altuve let the entire sport eat the consequences while he kept the trophies.
I don’t think he gets enough criticism for it. He’s still likely to get into the HOF. I don’t think any player, manager or coach from the 2017 Astros should be allowed to even buy a ticket to the HOF, let alone get inducted into it.
@chadstros@toupsyroll I said contribute to it. If you read what you want I can’t help you. When you hurt a lower body part you tend to use the good one more to relieve pain on the bad one. So playing a more demanding position can shorten the time where the joints and tendons break down.
Knowing that the Astros have no chance to win the WS this season and the possibility of a season long lockout, would you be ok with the Astros having a horrible season and getting a high 1st round pick in 27 & 28?
@toupsyroll He’s so prone to foot injuries that you do what’s best for him going forward, it’s not like they were unaware of his injury issues. Bad management to be honest. It’s like having McCullers throw 140 pitches a game, you know it’s only a matter of time until he’s back on IL
@toupsyroll I think it was never a good idea to have home play SS so much when Peña got hurt. After his first game at 3B last season he said it felt like he didn’t even play. That was the moment you say well unless it’s an emergency he never plays short again.
@michaelschwab13 There is nothing this owner and front office do that gives me any confidence that the Astros have any chance of being a winner the next 5 plus years. I have lost hope at this point but we will always have the memories of 2015-2023.
