Geno Auriemma shares a must-listen on body language and how he coaches it.
"We put a huge premium on body language."
"If your body language is bad, you will never get in the game. Ever. I don't care how good you are."
Your body language screams. It sets the tone for yourself and others.
It starts with your posture, your eye contact, and your energy. They're always communicating something - whether you realize it or not.
And here's why this matters more than ever:
"Recruiting enthusiastic kids is harder than it's ever been. Every kid watches TV, and they watch the NBA or the NFL and what they see is people just being really cool. So they think that's how they're gonna act."
The attitude comes before the ability.
"Recruiting kids that are really upbeat and loving life and love the game and have this tremendous appreciation for when their teammates do something well - that's hard. That's really hard."
He proved he means it with one of his best players:
"Somebody says, 'Well, you benched Stewy for 35 minutes in the Memphis game.' Yeah, I did. Stewy was acting like a 12-year-old, so I put her on the bench and said, 'Sit there.'"
No exceptions. Not even for All-Americans.
"I'd rather lose than watch kids play the way some kids play. I'd rather lose."
That's the standard his teams live.
"When I watch game film, I'm checking what's going on on the bench. If somebody's asleep over there, if somebody doesn't care, if somebody's not engaged in the game - they will never get in the game, ever."
Body language isn't a small thing. It's everything.
It's taking ownership of yourself, your attitude, and your actions.
It represents how you want to be as a teammate.

OF James Wood | Washington Nationals @Nationals | @80_scale
In the off-season, James is focused on fine-tuning his swing mechanics with these key 🔑 points:
1️⃣ Controlling his loading into the back hip while maintaining good posture.
2️⃣ Initiating with explosive hips to bring his hands down above the baseball, keeping it short and whip-like.
3️⃣ Ensuring his head is still/down at the contact point and behind the baseball.
4️⃣ Achieving balance and connection with head, hip, and knee alignment at contact.
5️⃣ Extending to maximize the barrel through the zone, staying on plane for as long as possible.

Kobe Bryant said, "You always want to outwork your potential. As hard as you believe you can work, you can work harder than that."
Hard Work is Undefeated.
Talent can you get you into many rooms, but it's your work ethic and attitude that keep you there.
Every HS player and travel ball player on the planet. Watch and listen carefully. Lots of great advice packed into this short clip. Not saying you have to have his exact approach, but it would help many younger hitters become more hitterish!
🚨 Advice from Jackson Holliday
- Keep lifting & eating during the season
- Fatigue can derail great years
- While others fade you get stronger
⭐️ Your goal as a player is to peak at the end of the season - not today.
Bring It On - Three words scientifically proven to help eat up fear, stress, pressure and anxiety (emotions WE ALL experience).
Say these words to yourself the next time you find yourself in a high pressure situation or anytime you’re stepping out of your comfort zone.
Better yet, repeatedly say BRING IT ON out loud. I promise you, it is one of the most powerful ‘mental tools’ out there.
