@forgetmeknot___ thank you so much for your reply!! i did want to communicate that the situation was nuanced and it is perfectly fine to interpret ltx's relationships as platonic, as long as we are being respectful of those with intellectual disabilities, so i'm glad that point came across
seeing mentions of li tianxi's "mental age" is concerning. the term has issues and i don't recommend using it, as someone with similar disabilities. most are being respectful to ltx and saying it out of good faith, but i wanted to clarify things (with research) π§΅
@Kuhachoco i actually agree the show wasn't being ableist in that regard. i meant the confirmation part as in what specifically the IDD was, and her having an IDD does not equate to an inability to have relationships as opposed to needing one where consent is respected. if that makes sense?
@Kuhachoco my argument wasn't about her not having a disorder in childhood, but that the discussion is nuanced. she could be in a relationship that respects her, based on communication she is able to make, but it would be unconventional. but those with idds do desire/have relationships.
@Kuhachoco i understand your points. i can also take it from the perspective of it just being a plot device to mention that she has an IDD to the viewer from a database. even so, we do not have confirmation of it being fragile x/down syndrome and have a lack of information, unfortunately
add-on: https://t.co/MHh1u3X25W in the end, it is possible for those with idds to have relationships, and this article does reiterate some of the same points i also happened to make, even before i figured out the direct tl (ζΊειη€). a considerate party + consent is what matters
research i looked at (you can read more here)

- https://t.co/o8XFNhnaxG (the ss on cptsd)

one should be more respectful of how others talk about things, regardless of what you think about it. the point was to just have a bit more understanding for others in the discussion. i hope that clears up more things on my end. i'll leave it at this for now. take care!
i understand and read people's points so i don't want to dismiss them. i've been informed ζΊειη€ translates to idd. even with this, i never deny the existence of developmental issues, and my point stands about mental age, relationships, and being respectful of others
however, most counterarguments understand that trauma doesn't lead to their reluctance to see her in relationships w/ adults near her age, but rather her "mental age being like a child". the common ones are these two: the police's statement, and her official profile bio.
i understand why this is a landmine for some, so it is okay if you don't prefer to portray her as such. nonetheless, mental age/iq/terminology similar to that is outdated and should not be used as justifications. treatment of people with idds still is rather bad in society.
