Joe Rogan just challenged the Adam & Eve story with a brutally simple question:

“If They Were the First Humans, Did Their Children Who Were BROTHERS AND SISTERS Have to Have SEX With Each Other?”

CONTEXT: The Bible actually gives believers an answer to part of Rogan’s question although it creates another uncomfortable one.

Genesis specifically names Adam and Eve’s sons Cain, Abel and Seth.

But Genesis 5 later says Adam also had:
“other sons and daughters.”

And Genesis 4 says Cain eventually had a wife without ever explaining who she was or where she came from.

So under the traditional interpretation that Adam and Eve were literally the first and only human couple, Cain’s wife would logically have been his sister or another extremely close relative.

That isn't merely an atheist criticism.

Traditional Christian sources themselves have acknowledged this as the straightforward solution to the Cain’s-wife problem.

ROGAN: “You think there’s only two people on Earth?”

“And then where do the other people come from?”

“The brothers and sisters just have sex with each other, right?”

EVERETT: “Adam is hiding out and God says, ‘Where are you?’”

“I thought God knew everything. Why is he asking him where he is? I don’t understand that.”

IMPORTANT NOTES: That second question also has a classic theological answer.

Genesis scholars generally don't read God asking “Where are you?” as God literally losing track of Adam behind a tree.

The NET Bible’s scholarly notes call the question rhetorical and closer in meaning to:

“Why are you hiding?”

And Genesis uses the same storytelling device immediately afterward.

After Cain murders Abel, God asks:
“Where is your brother Abel?”

The narrative clearly isn't necessarily suggesting God needs Cain to provide the missing-person information.

But Rogan’s FIRST question leads into a much bigger modern problem.

Human genetics does not look like our species recently descended genetically from just two breeding individuals.

Large-scale genome research has consistently reconstructed ancestral human populations numbering in the thousands, with a 2011 Nature Genetics analysis estimating the effective population ancestral to modern humans at roughly 9,000.

Even more recent research paints human origins as increasingly complicated rather than simpler: a 2025 Nature Genetics study found evidence that modern humans emerged from deeply structured ancestral populations that separated and later mixed again.

That doesn't scientifically disprove every possible belief in a historical Adam and Eve.

There are Christians who interpret Adam and Eve as representatives within a larger human population, theological ancestors rather than humanity’s sole genetic parents, or as part of a non-literal creation narrative.

But if someone insists on the narrowest claim that two biologically unique humans existed alone, every human descended exclusively from them, and nobody else existed then Rogan’s question really does force the uncomfortable next question:

Who did their children marry?

The traditional literal answer is essentially: Each other.

And THAT is why this deceptively simple question has produced arguments between believers, skeptics, theologians and scientists for generations.

Failed takedowns should count for the fighter defending them, not reward the fighter repeatedly failing to get them.

Hernandez vs. Rodrigues is the perfect example of what’s wrong with MMA judging.

Hernandez was outstruck 243-111 on the feet and went 3-for-29 on takedowns. Rodrigues defended 26 takedown attempts while getting the better of him on the feet, in the clinch, and throughout the grappling exchanges.

Yet somehow, two judges only scored it 48-47 Rodrigues (I had it 49-45 with Round 2 a 10-8).

At some point, repeatedly failing to impose your game plan has to matter. Stuffing 26 takedowns is effective grappling. It shouldn’t be treated like nothing while the guy going 3-for-29 gets rewarded for “pressure.”

Absolutely atrocious judging.
