The people pushing for discs have no principle.

What you actually want is language in user (or what should be changed to “owner”) agreements stating that what you’ve purchased is a copy of the game and not a digital license to use the software. Maybe even transitioning to an SD card type of interface with a key on it to unlock a downloadable copy of the game for the hardcore physical people. This would be big because I do side with the argument regarding not being able to sell your digital copy of a game to someone.

But dying on the hill of wanting to keep optical drives on consoles that are spinning, vibrating, heat causing parts, that are the most likely failure point, is the dumbest thing I’ve seen out of the tech community in a while.
