Saint Charles Lwanga and his companions were a group of young Ugandan Catholics and Anglicans who were martyred between 1885 and 1887 for their Christian faith.
Charles Lwanga was a chief page in the royal court of King Mwanga II of Buganda (present-day Uganda). After becoming a Christian, he courageously taught the faith to other young men in the king’s service and encouraged them to remain faithful to Christ despite growing persecution.
When King Mwanga demanded that they abandon their faith and submit to immoral practices, Charles and his companions refused. They chose loyalty to Christ over fear of death. On 3 June 1886, Charles Lwanga and many of his companions were burned alive at Namugongo, becoming witnesses to the Gospel through their sacrifice.
Their courage inspired the growth of Christianity throughout Uganda and Africa. In 1964, Pope Paul VI canonized the Uganda Martyrs and praised them as a powerful example of faith, purity, and perseverance.
Today, the Uganda Martyrs are honoured as patrons of African youth and witnesses to the power of unwavering faith.
St. Charles Lwanga and Companions, pray for us.

The Trinity reminds us that we are created for relationship and communion. Let us seek to build bridges, reconcile differences, and promote unity, mirroring the perfect unity of the three persons in one God- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

PRAYER TO JESUS ON WHOM I DEPEND
Jesus I depend on you.
I have no power of my own.
When things are going well for me I know that they have come from you for I have no power
of my own.
In my trials I rely on you.
In my temptations I trust in you.
My success is in your hands, my life is in your hands, for I have no power of my own.
O Lord I cannot do without you, save me from all evils O Lord and guide my going and my
coming, now and forever.
Jesus the Saviour…Have mercy on us and grant us success.
PRAYER TO MARY MOTHER OF JESUS THE SAVIOUR
O MARY MOTHER OF Jesus the Saviour, I salute you, I honour you, I revere you.
Never was it known that any of your children, who came to you with tears and supplications,
failed to get your attention.
Here I have to you my mother with tears and supplications, may your son Jesus the Saviour
have mercy on me, hear my prayers, and do with me whatever he wills, Amen.
My Queen and my mother, remember that I belong to you, preserve and protect me as your
property and possession.
PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT OUR
SANCTIFIER
O Holy Spirit may I be immersed wholly and entirely in you.
Be my vivifier, sanctifier and unifier.
Brighten my ways and give me the life and protection that Jesus the Saviour has by his death
and resurrection gained for those who love him. O Spirit divine may you never abandon me.
Guide me strictly in the paths of holiness, so that I will be finally and firmly united to the
three persons of the Blessed Trinity. O Virgin Mary, spouse of the Holy Spirit and mother of Jesus the savior, pray for me.
