Dorado- skin can b gold, blue/ green w whitish-yellow shading on the sides. Excellent braaied, baked or grilled.

Hake- long, slim fish, bulging eyes, dark grey head n back. Can be cubed, crumbed, pan fried, baked or grilled with lemon butter

A pilchard is a larger more mature sardine... #knowyourfish

Sardines - slim fish with blue-green backs n silver bellies. Cook with skin on, pan fry, baked, grilled or wrapped with vine leaves 4 braai

Oven roast veggies: onions, leeks, butternut, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, peppers, brinjals, mushrooms, potatoes, broccoli...

...brinjals, mushrooms, peppers, spring onions, brocolli, baby sweet corn, baby marrows and asparagus.

The following veggies are suitable for stir fry: shredded cabbage, young butternut, sliced onions, baby green beans, cherry tomatoes...

Veggies which are to b eaten raw - lettuce, cucumber, etc cannot be frozen

Most veggies freeze well if they r excellent quality: fresh, young n frozen soon after picking or buying...

Grilled veg is suited to tomatoes, brinjals, mushrooms n onions.

Most veggies may b deep / shallow fried, depending on type. If deep fried, they r coated in batter 1st. The only exception is potato chips.

Never allow veggies 2 boil until too soft, they will lose flavor, vitamins and minerals. They will become nasty, soggy waterlogged mess.

Tip of the day :2 correct over salted food, u can either throw in a raw potato (for soups / stew) or add sugar/vinegar 2 neutralize the salt
