Listened to an old episode of Dateline about a man who died in a car explosion and burned up. The wife eventually moved to another city, got a new boyfriend but their toddler kept acting out, which people assumed was because of the grief of losing his dad. It got so bad that the babysitter told the Mom she couldnโt watch her son anymore until he got into counseling.
Turns out the โnewโ boyfriend was in fact her dead husband with a dye job. Theyโd stolen a corpse from a graveyard where indigent people were buried, and then researched how hot a fire would need to be to burn the body so badly it couldnโt be identified. Then collected a 100k life insurance policy.
They told their young son Daddy was dead โ and โintroducedโ the new boyfriend to him as another man named โJakeโ
