Kenyan government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura tells Al Jazeera why Nairobi is backing a US‑funded Ebola quarantine facility despite a court suspension and protests over fears for the country’s already strained health system.
We have formally notified the U.S. State Department and the Department of Health of binding interim conservatory orders issued by the High Court of Kenya on 28 May 2026, which immediately halt the proposed establishment of any U.S.-backed Ebola exposure, quarantine, isolation, or treatment facility within Kenyan borders.

This is a hard article to read, but I hope you'll do so. I've spent some time reporting on widespread rape and other sexual violence of Palestinian male and female prisoners by Israeli authorities, and the article is now published. The assault victims were warned not to give speak of what they endured -- they were sometimes told they would be killed or raped if they gave interviews -- but they found the courage to do so. One man described being raped three times in a single day in Israeli prison, the third time after he tried to protest. A young woman said the guards would come in at the beginning of each shift and strip her naked and abuse her. Another reported that she was shown photos of herself being raped and warned they would be released unless she cooperated with Israeli intelligence. Even three children who had been detained told me they had been sexually abused. Look, whatever our position on the Middle East, we should be able to agree on being anti-rape. Sexual assaults were horrific when Israeli women were targeted on Oct. 7, and they're equally horrific when Israeli authorities use them against Palestinians day after day after day. We should be able to find common ground in opposing rape. Here's a gift link to the article: https://t.co/aMMHId49OO

My friend, they run barefoot in a marathon for Gaza, and from the heart of Gaza itself. As though they are running across pain itself, to prove that life still endures here, and that this city, despite genocide and siege, neither bows nor ceases to dream.
Striking civilian structures, including unfinished bridges, will not compel Iranians to surrender.
It only conveys the defeat and moral collapse of an enemy in disarray. Every bridge and building will be built back stronger. What will never recover: damage to America's standing.
‘There was permission to kill 300 people as collateral damage.’
Israeli intelligence whistleblowers expose the ‘non-human’ targeting system in Gaza, where strikes are approved in minutes, as more than 70,000 have been killed in Gaza since October 7th.
The world, Europe, and Spain have faced this critical moment before. In 2003, a few irresponsible leaders dragged us into an illegal war in the Middle East that brought nothing but insecurity and pain.
Our response then must be our response now:
NO to violations of international law.
NO to the illusion that we can solve the world’s problems with bombs.
NO to repeating the mistakes of the past.
NO TO WAR.

A suspected war crime: Israeli soldiers are seen executing two young men, Youssef Asa’sa and Al-Muntasir Billah Abdullah, in front of a home in the city of Jenin.
BREAKING: A new UN report finds that Israel’s assault on Gaza - with the destruction of health care, education, infrastructure, even the banking system - has erased 69 years of human development, marking the worst economic collapse ever recorded.
This is not war: it is genocide.
