Anyway.. Winners celebrate.. loosers explain..
🚨🎙INTERVIEWER: It's been over 6 years since you left PSG and joined Chelsea, becoming Chelsea's fan favorite defender. How did you feel when you heard you were leaving PSG, and how what can you tell us about your time at Chelsea?
🗣🎙Thiago Silva: "To be honest, I felt bad when I learned that the club's leadership (Leonardo) wanted to move forward without me. We had just lost the Champions League final to Bayern Munich. Like they say, 'Every disappointment is a blessing.' Lampard, who was the Chelsea coach then, was looking for an experienced defender to strengthen his defense, and I happened to be the defender he wanted".
"I also received an offer from Fiorentina, but the move to Chelsea seemed better for me – playing in the strongest league in Europe, and also because I wanted my kids to grow up in one of the best academies around. So, I decided to join Chelsea as a free agent under Frank Lampard, and things started getting better".
"Although PSG tried to offer me a contract when I had already decided to join Chelsea, it was too late. I just wanted Chelsea at that moment. It was great working with Lampard; he's got a great mentality, he knows exactly what he wants as a coach, and I admire that a lot. He's going to go far as a coach.
"I was surprised when I realized he left the Chelsea job. Then, my former coach came to replace him from PSG as well. Things really happened fast, but it happens for a reason – only God knows. I haven't told anyone this, but he told me in training at Chelsea, 'Look, Thiago, what we couldn't win with PSG, we have to work hard and win it with Chelsea.' Though the squad at Chelsea then, you'd think this team would end up in the round of 16 or at most the quarterfinals of that season's Champions League campaign. Hearing this from my coach motivated me and made me hungry to win the trophy so bad".
"And just like that, we made it to the Champions League final. Everybody thought it was the end of the road for us because Man City back then were on fire, they had a better team than us and everything. Nobody believed we were going to win it, but in our minds, we wanted to win this trophy. All the young players in the squad – Reece, Mason, Havertz, and so on, they were ready and hungry for this trophy as well. I could easily tell, by looking at their faces. It was a very special and emotional moment for everyone when we overcame the fear of Man City to lift the Champions League trophy in 2021. Nobody believed in us, but God did".
"There's something about Chelsea, and it's just about winning. Like after every 5 years, they seemed to be winning trophies no matter the situation. I don't know about the new era at Chelsea, but the former one loved winning and making the fans happy. Chelsea fans don't accept losses, they're hungry for more, they just want to keep winning as long as it makes them happy, and I love that. Life is about winning; though losses might happen sometimes, but they shouldn't be more than the wins".
"If I ever become a coach, I'd love to work with Chelsea again. It's a dream for me."
