6 power moves on upcoming budget 2025 (which can grow our economy):-

[1] Solve supply side constraints:

- India already has massive demand. In fact the demand is so high that the entire world wants to sell to India.
- Our issue is that we can't provide enough "supply" domestically to fulfil this demand.
- This requires long-term commitment: but a low hanging fruit would be start with areas like Tourism

Standardising tourism is an easy first step (eg. minimum standards for AirBnBs, capping of taxi and airfares, long-term visas for foreigners etc)

DTCM, Dubai has already done this.

[2] Give more spending power directly in the hands of people:

- India has one of the highest personal income taxes.
- This only makes sense: if the rise in salary is compensating for real inflation.
- But, since this NOT happening post COVID, we need a personal income tax cut

Almost 60% of India's economy depends on domestic consumption.

If people are left with "nothing much" to spend (due to excessive personal taxes), the economy will struggle.

[3] Cut government spending (Austerity)

- Our revenue expenditure (eg. salaries) is 4X that of capital expenditure (productive things)
- Our governments are WAYYY too bloated.
- We at least need a 50% government budget cut.
- But, stopping/slowing down new recruitments in government jobs is going to be the key
- Argentina did this recently: and this move is now turning around its economy

[4] Focus less on Agriculture:

- Let's be honest. We have been focusing on Agriculture since independence. And, it has NOT generated the type of results we had expected.
- In India, most Agriculture is intensively done. And, we have one of the lowest outputs on Agriculture in the world now.
- Up-skilling to more value adding industries needs to happen.
- Agriculture is important: but it should be done at scale.

Diversion of Agri budget to other industries at least starts this process.

[5] Give tax breaks to small businesses.

- Tax breaks should be linked to the # of employees hired.
- Most small businesses require credit/loans to grow
- The more they hire, the more loans they should get
- If tax breaks are NOT a possibility, then easy compliances should be offered.

Example: In Singapore -- the government works taxation year is Jan to Dec. Then businesses are given a few months to file their taxes for the year. And most of it can be paid on instalments.

In India, paying advance tax for small businesses become a nightmare.

This simple move: gives hope to small businesses: which are the engines of growth for our economy.

[6] Reduce capital gains tax (or maybe eliminate)

- Countries like UAE and Singapore have 0 capital gains
- Reason: this is your "risk" capital: you have already paid taxes to invest.
- Now, you should not be made to paid taxes (again) on that capital, in case you are investing and growing that.

This projects India as a destination where people could build wealth.
