@ScienceNerdSACR Anytime cartoon characters are shown blowing up balloons and then in the next scene they are floating like helium balloons (Episodes of Dora and also Little Bear have this). Also, the water levels in the bags at the end of Finding Nemo…
@ReitzChemistry I wish wall chart Periodic Tables had serif fonts! Or....if we all ask nicely enough, could Chlorine just be Ch? Please? That's the biggest issue for my kids!
@flyingmonkey13 Two ideas: have part of our personal growth plan include one scheduled mental health day off per semester; have the principal sub for a teacher at least one day per month so they can remember what it feels like to teach and be beholden to the standards & schedule
Today, my students chose different reactions and modeled them with legos, beads, and chain links. They don’t know much about atoms or bonding yet but they are already speaking the language of Chemistry! #WeAreADM#chemchat
@johannabrown@NGSS_tweeps I’m biased, but I would add more Chemistry PE to the MS standards. In Iowa, the Chem PEs are only taught in 6th grade and then usually not again until 11th grade Chemistry. I would also break some of the HS standards into two separate standards.
@luierica Anything abstract that they haven’t had enough time to practice. Embed practice within your notes/lecture, use manipulatives, whiteboard in groups, do “find the error” problems, and frequently check for individual understanding (and then schedule interventions).
@ChemQuizDotNet I combine polyatomics with my Solubility unit so those are the main six ions I have students focus on. Acetate and bicarbonate would be next on my list.
@BreannaDean8 @amazon I love teaching HS Chemistry and making it engaging for all students. Thank you to anyone who can help to #clearthelist! https://t.co/i9PhFYlDbm
@jarpadsource@jarpad I love teaching HS Chemistry in Iowa and making it engaging for students. Thank you to anyone who can help provide activity-based materials for my students! https://t.co/i9PhFYlDbm
